I dare you to comment on every paragraph, I love you.

KANO STATE, NIGERIA.

"We are still thinking about who gave you both the right to accept a marriage proposal without me or your sister being there." Aminu, their brother in-law, Ya Arwa's husband made a face through the face time they are currently having with Amirah's brand new phone -courtesy of Imad.

Afaf pivoted to look at Amirah to find her already looking at her with answer this question since you were the one more than ready to send me away. Afaf shrugged but didn't answer, their sister just finished her spark and disappeared without any of them saying anything. She doesn't know how tight things are there and they are not about to tell her everything and worry her about her child's health and theirs. If that happens, she won't take care of how husband and they'd be delayed.

Afaf made a pitiful face, she won't let this ruin this marriage. Amirah deserves it and nothing anyone says will make her believe otherwise. That is the veracity of their situation, people don't want to believe. "Ya Aminu, we are sorry about that. Amirah just fell in love and the man's family are willing to do everything themselves which is why we thought we shouldn't worry you two about it."

Aminu shook his head, staring at his wife beside him fuming but won't look at the camera of his laptop in front of him on the cotton cot. "You should've told your sister about it, Afaf."

"I know and we are so very sorry." She knew this is reprehensible and totally deserving. Her sister should at least act like she is happy for their equally reprehensible younger sister who's been ladened with all their works.

"And about this groom's family." He cleared his throat, decomposing his wife's quelling glare for giving his acquiesces. "You both know how the society works, it makes people like us feel extra small. If this husband does all the work, we might never be able to face the society. We can chose not to pay attention to what they say but the fact is, Amirah is still healing over what has happened, this will open fresh wounds. He might think this is all succinct and quibble but you'd be shocked how much people will know about it."

Afaf has thought about that before too, how could she not? She's seen it happen to a few of her friends that got swept off their feet by wealthy men. But she's given their testament and she won't withdraw just because people will talk, her sister's happiness lies on this marriage. Nazir will make her more happy than Imad has, her eyes has started fading off those arsenal of depression and guilt. She is finally enjoying things people her age should.

No one will parody this marriage on her watch, she'd make them swallow their words. While Amirah is there enjoying her married life, she will swallow all people are going to say about them. As long as her sister is happily married and is getting taken care of in her husbands house. Who people epp anyway? They are going to talk no matter what so they better have the stellar topic to do so.

She even took it upon her to work as a maid in the palace if the contract doesn't get terminated for the next year. She will finish schooling in a few weeks, right after Amirah's marriage. They can make it work as long as the other maids are willing to help them which they are. Anything to make her sister happy, to pay back for what she's done to them for years. This is time for her to be eminent and help her sister celebrate last year of her teenage life.

This is the aperture Afaf has been waiting for and it came just at the right time. Their censorious sister won't halt this, no matter what she does. She is there happily with her doting husband while they take care of her child and themselves.

She suddenly felt paroxysmal and she bounced on the mattress. "He is a nice man, Ya Aminu. I might not be a psychologist but I'm a lawyer in the flesh."
