KANO STATE, NIGERIA.

Afaf sucked her lower lip in between the seam of her lips, to keep off the nervousness. She thought the next time she will meet Imad, she will lash out on him and go all berserk but look at her like a wet mice hiding. They are all sitting outside the room to not disturb Amirah who still isn't awake. She's seen the longing and concern in his eyes when they explained what has happened to her. He is beating himself up, the guilt Amirah felt is there too in his eyes and it brought her joy.

He does not deserve merriment while her sister was wallowed in those emotions for long, he should feel how she felt. At first, she wanted to yell at him and ask why he stepped inside their room without anyone's permission but when she saw the question in his eyes and the way he is squinting them to look at Najla, she kept quiet. This is a secret she's forgotten about and didn't think things through before going to their Majesties.

They clearly are going to force him to take her back. What else could they do? That is the only solution to such problem, she just wanted to get back at him. At least, her sister will stop suffering now and live in the wealth she deserves to inundate in. She won't keep working to make the ends meet now that her 'husband' will pay all their debts like the King had demand he does. That is what she wanted to tick off her list.

She intentionally mentioned their debts but didn't mention that she was working as a maid in the palace, she don't know whether Amirah will appreciate it. About the debt though, it doesn't matter if she hates the idea, she is helping them both. Debt is the first thing in their both lists and Amirah will be a fool to feel bad about this. She's been working her ass off to know why she did this and the reasons behind all her actions. She hopes so, Amirah can be as dense as her husband.

"Why do you have so many hospital debts?" Imad asked first, keeping the facts about Najla aside because he wants to keep it as far as he could. He feels beholden to do so too, as if waiting for Amirah to awoke and tell him everything.

Afaf shrugged off her shoulders, giving him a once over with his other two friends and appreciated it. What? She is a woman too and there is no way she could hide the fact that her brother in-law and his friends are one piece of art. They are Adonis and they know that so freaking well since they all have mirrors and their girlfriends will keep reminding them of that. Then she galvanised, he just asked about hospital bills.

How's she going to answer him now? Tell him about what happened during Najla's birth or just the part where their mother was diagnosed with breast cancer? Amirah will flip if she finds out her whole secret is out in the open and the men here alongside their Aunt, Kamilah, Lateefa and Husna are not leaving the scene anytime soon. That part of Amirah is not to be discussed like this, it is also something she would want to talk about herself.

She was the one who went through them all to know and inform him about it in a much better way.

She cleared her throat. "Our mother got diagnosed with breast cancer few months after Amirah's return. After you threw her out. We used all our money and assets for her treatments and surgeries but she didn't survive. She only lasted few more months in the hospital and died." She shrugged, her throat getting clogged talking about her mother's death.

Imad sure found this a news! He didn't know that their mother had died and he suddenly felt more twisted than he's ever felt. Her mother is dead and their sister? Where is their oldest sister?

"What about your oldest sister? Arwa?" He does not know about her or her husband. He even thought they were living together at one point.

Afaf glared at him thinking he is trying to act ignorant but when she saw the sheer curiosity in them, she backed out. He really doesn't know what is happening to them, does he? "Arwa's husband got diagnosed with cancer too and they left the country for his treatment courtesy of his family contribution. They have nothing to help us with other than his position in the Kilishi Enterprises that Amirah took for the time being."
