Austin pov

i hear a noise and we all turn and point our weapons, a opossum well now a dead opossum seeing as Daryl shot it, "brought dinner" Daryl says and some ugly lookin guy just stares at him, kid looks like a asshole, i can see it in his eyebrows, "it's ok, come on in guys" Aaron says. i can feel my hands shaking as i chew the inside of my bottom lip, i'm thinking booty shorts aren't the best first impression but i haven't really had time to change so i just gotta pull through it, i feel someone tap my shoulder, it's Daryl, we share a look that tells both of of everything the other needs to know, he nods and i smile, somehow it makes it better. i tune back in when Aberhamm says "who's Deanna" "she knows everything you'd wanna know about this place" Aaron tells us all "Rick why don't you start?" Aaron asks him, Rick looks back at the gates "Sasha." he says and she turns and shoots a walker as a second gate closes behind us, "good thing we're here." Rick says

"they're still your guns, you can check them out whenever you go beyond the wall" Deanna tells us, i'm not giving them my knifes no fucking way in hell, i walk up and set three hand guns and my machine gun in the bin and Carol dose this thing like her gun is too heavy and i catch on and take it for her and put it in the bin "i should've brought another bin" some lady with glasses says

i go in after Daryl. Deanna is a small woman but still a little taller than me "hello Austin, right?" she ask "yeah that's me" i tell her "what were you before all this?" she asks "brain surgeon and a volunteer ER tech when i had slow days" i say "wow, how old are you?" she probably thought i was 17 before i told her that, maybe because i don't have facial hair "29-30 maybe i can't recall the last time i saw a calendar but when the world ended i was 28" i tell her "that's very young where you just out of college" she asks looking like she's trying to see through my soul "yes and no it depends what you'd call 'just out of college' i started college once i got to American when i was 17 and had to take two years off about half way through my schooling though-" i stop myself, i'm over sharing, "i sense you don't wanna say why you took those years off that perfectly fine, i do how ever need your help with something or well someone, i can't read mr.Dixon and you both seem close" she says "nobody can, i'm surprised he even talks to me, he just doesn't like people in general, but you bug him enough he'll start talking" i say though i never had to bug him to get him to talk he just likes me i guess, she says goodbye and shakes my hand, as i walk down the stairs i jump when i hear, "hey" it's Daryl thankfully "you waited the whole time? i must be special then, huh?" i say walking beside him leaning my head on his arm a bit and rapping my arm around his "maybe" he says

the first thing i do is take a shower, i've always hated smelling bad and looking bad so now i can be as comfortable as my skin will let me. black skinny jeans and a light green t-shirt for now i would put my head band back on but my hairs clean and it's not so i'll just have to wait till i can wash it. i walk out onto the porch and see Daryl gutting his opossum, Carl, Rick and Judith are just standing there, well not Judie she can't do that quite yet but yknow, "you can look just be quick" Rick tells Carl who's been eyeing the other house for a a bit and Carol goes with him. i sit with Daryl and watch how he skins the opossum "i used to be a vegetarian" i just blurt our "the hells that?" Daryl asks "i didn't eat meat, none what so ever" i tell him and he chuckles a bit "i'm serious, not even chicken" i say laughing a bit "i like the hair" he says looking up from the opossum "thanks" i smile at him

i get my corner of the living room set up since we're all sleeping in the same house tonight, i thought the corner close to the door would be best incase i need a smoke break in the middle of the night. "how long was i in there for" Michonne says walking out of the bathroom "20 minutes" Rick says "i could not stop brushing" she says as she looks up and sees Ricks shaven face "huh, i've never seen your face like that" "that's what i said, before and after" Rick tells her and then they whisper something to each other but i cant hear it since i'm on the other side of the room next to Judie right now. Deanna comes by to tell Rick his job and after that it's lights out.
