-Torcher's POV-

Darkness...
My entire body was numb, I couldn't move, and all I saw was an empty void. My head was spinning as it tried to adjust, and, on top of that, to a splitting headache that was developing, too.

Great, what a pleasant combination, I thought to myself. Yet, despite not being able to move and my mind being an uncontrollable mess, all my worries just seemed to melt away. What was I freaking out about, again?

"Hello?" I tried to call out. No answer... I thought to myself. It didn't help that my mouth couldn't move, either.

———
There was something pulling at the back of my mind, but I couldn't quite put my claw on it. I just knew that I was supposed to do something, but what?

I tried to move, but just like before, it was as if all the connections in my body had been severed. I started to sweat. This couldn't really be the end, could it?

Come on, move! You've gotta get out of here! I tried to encourage myself, but the harder I tried to move, the more my body started to burn. Even when I stopped straining myself, all of my muscles felt like there was a burning fire turning them into ash. The tears came in an instant, and even though I couldn't move, I heard myself cry out.

After a moment, the darkness of the void decayed in a blinding light as I heard someone call out my name.

"—-cher."

"-orcher!"

"TORCHER!"

...

"Soldier?"

The prison of light slowly faded away, and in its place came a hospital room. My world was still spinning, but I was held in place from firm hands on my shoulders. And, as I regained my focus, I looked up.

"George?"

"Oh, thank goodness you're okay!" he cried. Tears were streaming down his cheeks, but they were happy tears.
Without thinking about it, I pulled him into a tight hug, wincing as I remembered my broken arm. He had been kneeling over me in order to wake me up. After a moment, he quickly pulled away, blushing in embarrassment from the awkward position.

I slowly turned to look around the room. Standing beside a mess of cables and wires stood Zizzy and Pony, staring in shock and tears. After exchanging quick glances, they turned back and gave me the brightest smiles I've ever seen. They almost reminded me of...

"Soldier! Where's Soldier!?" I shouted, suddenly. George jumped back, almost falling off of the bed before I steadied him.
I hastily pushed back the covers but was stopped by what I saw. My legs were completely covered in bandages, and what wasn't was covered in scrapes and scratches. The damage was to be expected. We did fall from a two-story building's roof, after all, but it never dawned on me how serious it really was.

We fell... We actually fell...

"I'm right here," called a soft voice from the doorway. There stood Soldier, covered in bandages, just like I was. Two nurses stood by his side, and he was held up solely by crutches. He was trying to hold a smile, but I could tell that he was losing his grit. In seconds, tears started flowing down his cheeks like waterfalls.

Zizzy, and Pony cleared a path to let Soldier through as he came barreling in. Before he even reached the bedside, Soldier set his crutches against the wall and limped over to where I sat. As I held my arms out, shakily, he practically tackled me onto the bed. A sharp pain shot through my broken arm upon contact, but I didn't care.

We laid there for a while, embracing in each other's warmth. All of my pain and worries seemed to melt away the longer he held me, just like in the dark void. The hospital room faded from the picture as I met his dark eyes, and a soft blush crept over both of my cheeks. No matter how hard I tried, I just couldn't seem to look away. I could see that Soldier felt the same since he was grinning from ear to ear.
