Taylor's POV:
When I got in my car, I thought about the whole Quiji board situation. What if it wasn't her? What if we wake up another spirit? A spirit that's evil like in the actual movie Quji? What the hell was I thinking. As I stopped at a read light, my phone started to ring. I looked at the caller ID to see that it was Jack Johnson. I picked up.
"Yo, whats up Johnson?"
"Jack and I wanted to know if you'd like to come over right now. We're just chillin."
"Mmm..alright. I'll be there in a minute."
I hung up and pulled into the right lane to turn down the next street. I drove for a few more blocks until I reached Johnson's neighborhood. I parked across the street and headed to the front door. I knocked three times and then was greeted by Gilinsky. "Whats up G." I said, fist bumping him. "Nothing much Mr. T, come inside. Jack's in the kitchen." He said. I was hoping that we'd avoid talking about a certain somebody, but of course Johnson likes to bring up peoples issues.
"I'm sorry about Megan bro." Johnson said right away. "It's alright." I prayed that we'd switch to another topic. "So whats this whole Quiji thing that Cameron was telling us about?" Gilinksy added, sitting on the counter. "Well it all started when something grabbed me on Cam and Nash's balcony the other night, which I still don't know what it was, and then all this spooky stuff started happening." They looked at each other and then back at me. "Like what?" Gilinsky asked.
"Cameron saw a piece of paper move without a draft blowing on it, Nash's radio turned on by itself, and Skylnn's new imaginary friends name is Megan." Just talking about it made me anxious. "So you wanted to use the Quiji Board to try and contact whatevers reaching out to you guys." Gilinksy said, slapping the counter top. "Yeah exactly, but I doubt it'll work." I shrugged.
"Listen man, we'll hope for the best. And if it doesn't work out then we'll find you another gal. You know, there's this really hot girl down at The Grill named Salma. Smoking hot latino." I shook my head. "No you don't get it. Nobody in the history of the world will ever be in my position. No one will ever know what it's like to be in love with some girl that's dead but still feel like she's there. And she most certainly could be and I'm terrified and excited to find out. I just-" Tears poured out of my eyes.
"Easy Taylor, easy. Look, this is a strange situation but I've seen weirder." I wiped my face and chuckled. "Yeah right." I huffed. "No seriously, you know the guy that used to live three houses down form us? Well he thought that his wife was consulting in the illuminati and tried to sacrifice her to save his life but got thrown in jail before anything oculd happen." I was shocked. "Ok, that is insane, but not my point." I chuckled, feeling a little better. "What happened to Lexi?" Gilinsky asked.
I quivered just thinking about her (ex-girlfriend problems). "Caught her sleeping with one of my old friends so she's long gone. And so is he. Can we talk about something esle other than my love life?" I asked. "Yeah sorry, so you wanna watch a movie or something?" Gilinsky asked, already walking to the living room. "Sure, what movie?" I asked, following him. "How about Lord of the Rings?" Johnson pulled out the DVD for Lord ofthe Rings and showed it to us. "I'm down." I scooted my butt towards the center of the couch and got comfortable.
As the movie played, I kind of lost focus. I wasn't really into it to be honest, I just thought it would take my mind off of things but I guess not. I'm not stupid, I know that it's kind of insane to be in love with someone you only talked to for less than five minutes but if you were there, looking into those eyes, feeling the connection I felt. Then you would understand. I did love her and I shouldn't have tried to hide it from cameron the first night we visited her in the hospital.
Her hand was so soft under mine. I wanted to kiss her. I wanted to have her. I wanted...her. "Taylor?" Johnson shook me. "Bro, the movies over." He laughed. "Uh yeah man, I knew that. I was just taking in the ending you know?" I tried to play it off. "Yeah ok. So listen, Jack and I gotta go make a skyoe call with our manager so if you wanna stick around, you can but its up to you." He shrugged to me. "I'll just go, its alright. I'll see you guys around." I then left.
As I got into my car, I was alerted by the sound of my radio going off. "Megan? Please tell me that's you." Everything was silent besides the music. I was dead cold inside by the thought of there being a paranormal presence in my car. I shut off the radio so I could test something. "If it's you, turn the radio back on." Everything was quiet. When nothing happened, I sighed and put my hands on the wheel. "Vivir me vida la la la la la." Mexican music blared, causing me to jump back. "I knew it was you." I smiled, still a little terrified. "Megan, I love you. I do. I need you to know that." I said. The music changed to a romantic song and I started laughing really hard.
I began to drive and as I did so I sang along to Marvin Gaye, imagining that Megan was physically there beside me, singing too.
