Chapter 4 : Before The Trip

The very next day, I got some time before I head to the cave again so I decided to longue on the beach. It's pretty sunny today, I wonder if someday I could take Dumpling here. Just us chilling near the beach with Shadow too, that'd be fun.

"Hey"

I turn my head around and gasp when I see Shadow approaching me. How is he here right after I just thought about him?! I sit up on my longue chair and turn my head left and right to see if any of my friends are here.

"Shadow, what are you doing here? I thought we only meet up at the cave" I whispered loudly.

"Don't worry, it's not like I'm supposed to hide from the village" he rolled his eyes.

"Haha, right" I chuckled.

He approach me closer until he was standing right next to me. He look down at me for a moment before turning his gaze to the sea.

"I thought about something"

I perked my ears and tilted my head "what is it?"

"Maybe Dumpling should live with you"

"What?!"

I pull on Shadow's wrist and make him sit on the longue chair with me. It surprised him and I probably make him angry from doing that but I don't care!

"What the hell?" He grunted.

"Dumpling is supposed to be our secret, if I take Dumpling here one of my friends is for sure going to find out about him!" I argued.

He look so surprised at me, that make me realize I was being a little too loud so I quickly cover my mouth.

"Sorry...didn't mean to snap at you, Shadow" I apologized.

"That's alright" Shadow said "you know I didn't mean you HAVE to take Dumpling in, I said maybe you should. You can refuse if you don't want to" he explained.

"Oh...well, sorry again for snapping. I just care about Dumpling so much" I chuckled "I think it's still best to keep him in the cave, okay?"

I don't know why but Shadow is staring deeply into my eyes right now. It somehow makes me nervous so I quickly look away.

"Right..." he smiled.

That's so rare! Seeing Shadow coming to the village is rare but seeing him smile from not doing bad stuff is more rare! He completely looks like a good guy when he does that, heck even like a different Shadow!

"So, um...is that all the reason why you want to see me?" I asked.

"Well I'm thinking of finding more of him...more of his kind" he sighed and stand up from the chair.

"Huh? You wanna find more Dumplings?" I asked and he nodded "that's cool and I'm totally in for that! But...where are we even going to search? The cave?"

Shadow turn himself around and stare at me, nodding his head.

"I found him there, so there's gotta be a place in that cave where all of his kind is staying. This is just an assumption but I think Dumpling is lost from his home" he explained.

I smiled and stand right in front of him "okay then! Let's go now!"

"Slow down, hedgehog. We need some preparations before we can mindlessly wander inside that crystal cave. What do you think would happen if we get lost?" He questioned while slowly pushing me down to make me sit.

"Oh. Right...preparations...what do we need?"

"I guess for starters we're gonna need a couple of flashlights, we don't know for sure if there's still crystals the deeper we go in the cave"
