"Oh, Grandmama!!" I hear as I slowly turn around knowing who it is. I see my dear Olivia running up my old porch steps in her cute little princess outfit. I smile and say, "Oh sweet cheeks, come here." She reaches me and throws her arms around me. I hug her back and say, "Now what kind of a story would you want today? Cinderella? Sleeping Beauty? Or Robin Hood?" She practically whispers, "Why don't you tell me about you." I look down at the little six year old and say as I sit down in my rocking chair, "Me?" She says, "Well, I want to know what it was like when you were young?" I say, "Oh my dear Olivia, you don't want to hear about when I was younger." She pouts and says, "But Grandmama?" I sigh and say, "It's not always happy." She looks up at me with her big brown eyes. I say, "Oh alright, but we need to go inside for this long story." I get up and reach for my cane as I slowly get up. I open the door to my old house and walk in seeing all of my pictures from over the years. I smile as I sit down. Olivia sits down and crosses her legs. I scorn her and say, "A lady sits properly." She giggles and sits properly on the chair next to me. I smile and say, "Where to begin? Oh, how about when I married your grandfather?" She giggled and said, "No when you were born." I smile and say, "Alright, my dear Olivia."

Pearl Grace Parker. I was born on October 22, 1911. I was a small baby girl born to Charles and Alice Parker. They already had one son before me named Henry. He was six when I was born. I was definitely my father's favorite. We would play tag or hide and go seek all day. We had a giant house with many extra rooms where we could run around all day. We were happy. My father would go to work everyday and bring me shoes or a new dress every time he came home. I grew older and older; day by day. We would have grand dresses and parties all the time. My mother was a fine woman. I was three when my father was drafted into the war on November 2, 1914. The first war that is; I remember saying goodbye to him and my mother having the worst terrified look on her face. This is where my story starts.
