I walk into our huge mansion and set down my bags. I sigh and yell, "Betty!" I watch her run from the kitchen and say, "Hello, miss. How was shopping today?" I smile and say, "Good, I bought a few new dresses to consider wearing tomorrow. What time is it, Betty?" Betty looks up at me as she grabs my bags, "About nine, miss." I yawn and say, "Ok, will you bring my bags up to my room? I am going to grab a snack. Please make a hot bubble bath for me also." She nods and I turn to the kitchen.
I walk into the kitchen and automatically roll my eyes as I see Henry and his new lady for the day. I look around and see the mess they have made. I don't know if it is flour, sugar, or some other sort of powder but it is everywhere. They keep throwing powder everywhere while I walk in. I glare at them while I walk past them. I grab a glass of orange juice and quickly leave the kitchen before I get some of the powder on me. I close the door on them screaming and giggling at the same time. I walk up the stairs and into my room. Once I get into my room I set my glass down and walk into my bathroom. I sigh as I look at the steaming bubble bath. Just what I needed. I took a long relaxing bubble bath for a while. Then after that I change into my lace pajamas and go to sleep.
Then the next day, I slowly opened my eyes to warm sunshine. I sigh and sit up. It's probably already past noon. I look around my room and groan. I need to start setting up for my party tonight. I get out of bed and walk into my closet again, which has the dresses I bought yesterday already hung up. I think to myself, "Betty is great." I look at the new dresses and sit down. I don't know which one to wear. I smile as I get an idea. I walk over to my nightstand and grab the phone. I dial Mary's home number. It rings until her maid picks it up. She says, "Olson residence." I say, "Hello, this is Pearl Parker. Is Mary home?" She says, "One minute miss." After a bit I hear Mary's familiar voice on the phone, "Hey, Pearl. Happy birthday!" I smile and say, "Thanks. What are you doing right now?" She responds, "Just looking at my library. Why?" I say, "I kind of need some help on deciding what to wear for tonight." She laughs and says, "I'll be over in a bit." I smile and hang up the phone. I open my door to the hallway and yell, "Mary is on her way over!" In a few minutes, Mary walks into my room and says, "What's the catastrophe?" I point to the closet and she walks in muttering words to herself.
She walks back out of my closet holding two dresses. One gold sparkly flapper dress and a silver sparkly flapper dress. She holds the gold one up to me and says, "It will go lovely with your dark hair." I laugh and yell, "Betty?!" She comes running in and says, "Miss you only have a few hours to get ready!" I sit down and she starts curling my hair.
