An emergency pack meeting was called and it was not long before every member had congregated outside the headquarters, awaiting their leader. The doors opened and the leader stepped out. The pack bowed in respect. He stood on the steps of the headquarters, wearing his finest robes, and addressed the crowd.

"It is with great joy that I announce that the day has finally come."

The pack looked at him in confusion.

"Our Luna has finally joined us."

The pack erupted in chatter and excitement. Every young and unmated alpha notably stood to attention. Everyone looked around, trying to figure out which omega was missing. It would have been easy to spot who it was, really. Taehyung's side kick was not by his side for once, which was highly unusual. The Evergreen pack, however, had a preconceived notion that their Luna would be female, and did not notice this fact.

The door slowly opened and Jimin stepped out, dressed all in while.

The crowd gasped. Jimin walked forward and stopped beside his leader, his eyes on the ground in front of him. He fought to stop his hands from shaking. Somehow, his eyes instantly found Taehyung's in the crowd. Taehyung was mesmerized by his best friend. Jimin looked positively bewitching, with his hair on full show. There was no doubt that this was in fact, their Luna. Taehyung gave Jimin his best reassuring smile. Jimin, in his anxiety, struggled to smile back.

Taehyung was the first to lower himself to the ground in a deep bow, his arms stretched out. One by one, the rest of the pack followed suit. Jimin stared at his pack with awe and his eyes filled with tears as they showed their respect for their Luna.

'Maybe I can do this,' he thought.

---------------------------------

Everyone was eager to know who Jimin's mate was. He would be the new pack leader, after all. The leader requested that all unmated alphas gather and form a circle. Jimin would be guided to the center at two o'clock sharp, where he would pick out his Alpha. Until then, the leader took Jimin into his office. They sat down and the leader poured out the tea.

"Jimin. How are you feeling about all this?" The leader gave him a knowing smile.

"A little...overwhelmed I guess," he replied honestly.

"Ah yes, that is to be expected."

Jimin was quiet for a moment.

"...How will I know who my alpha is?"

The leader sat back and considered his question.

"Well, when my Luna caught my scent, she came straight over. She hadn't even laid eyes on me and yet, she knew. I can still remember it clearly, her kneeling before me, sealing my fate." His eyes lit up at the memory. "The same will happen to you Jimin, I'm sure."

Jimin gave him a small nod.

"Hey, Jimin, who was that young lad today? The tall one that bowed first to you?"

"Oh, that's Taehyung, my friend."

"...Is he an alpha?"

"Not yet - I mean, he hasn't presented yet."

The leader nodded. He didn't say any more on the topic.

-----------------------

Taehyung watched the whole thing go down from afar. He wasn't allowed in the circle, of course. There was a surprisingly large amount of unmated alphas in the pack. Their various scents overwhelmed Jimin's senses as he was led into the circle, blindfolded. Taehyung felt uncomfortable by the way many of the alphas ogled Jimin. Some of them looked hopeful, others not so much. Namjoon, of course, looked totally uninterested. He really didn't see how it could possibly be him after the fiasco the night before. He kept his eyes on Ji-ah who watched anxiously from the side. Everyone expected Jimin to fall straight into Namjoon's arms.

Jimin came to a stop in the center of the circle. He tried his best to clear his mind and not think of all the eyes on him. He took a deep inhalation through his nose.

Nothing.

There was no single scent that stood out to him. He could smell them, of course, and sure, some were quite nice and masculine but Jimin's feet stayed rooted to the spot.

'Come on, Jimin, focus,' he reprimanded himself in his head.

He inhaled deeply again. Nope. There was simply no way Jimin was about to throw himself at the feet of any of these alphas. He felt hollow, like something (or someone) was sorely missing. His wolf cried out for something that simply wasn't there.

"He's not here," he said simply.

The pack gawked at Jimin in shock. He tore his blindfold off in frustration. He looked around at all the alphas, his face emotionless.

"It's not any of you. I'm sorry." He was genuinely remorseful. How could he have let down his pack already?

The leader stepped into the circle and gave Jimin a comforting smile.

"That's okay, Jimin. We waited long enough for our Luna, we can wait for our Alpha too."

Everyone in the pack was disappointed except for a certain Kim Namjoon, of course. He beamed and spun around to look at Ji-ah, who wore a matching expression. He was finally free. He wasn't going to be the leader and he could finally be with his love, properly. He took three long strides, grabbed her wrist and half-dragged her to his home. A few people chuckled at the sight. There was no doubt that Ji-ah would be walking around with a lovely mark on her neck by this time the next day.

Jimin slipped out of the circle and walked straight into the caring embrace of Taehyung, the tears already falling.
