"Why are you following me?" I ask as a boy continues to follow me down the hall when I'm on my way to my room

"Why are you following me?" I ask as a boy continues to follow me down the hall when I'm on my way to my room.

"I'm not following you," he says. "I'm just going the same way as you."

"The boys' dorms were two turns ago," I state bluntly, grabbing a key from my pocket. "And I know when I'm being followed," I say, stopping in front of my dorm room door. "You're a worse stalker than Holt Hearts and Harry Hook combined."

"Am I supposed to know those names?"

"Am I supposed to know yours?"

The boy chuckles. He's not bad looking, but there are plenty of other good-looking guys that look way better than him.

"Grayson. Son of Grumpy."

I smile small and fakely as I put the key in the door and turn it, unlocking the door. I take the key out and grab the doorknob. "Harper. Daughter of Hades. I'll ask my father to steal your soul." Before he can say anything else, I open the door and walk into my room, slamming the door behind me.

Evie is at her sewing machine while Mal is laying on her bed drawing. Jane is standing next to Mal talking to her about what her mother said about the beauty within.

I huff and toss my bag on my bed before rummaging through my clothes.

"What's wrong, Harp?" Mal asks.

I sigh, going to the bathroom. I close the door halfway before I start changing. "I am changing because I am really uncomfortable right now. I probably have tan lines from the fishnets, and I was being stalked by this boy named George or some shit."

"You sure you don't love it here?" Evie asks.

"I want to be back with Gil. He gave me a few laughs."

"Boyfriend?" Jane asks as I walk out of the bathroom.

I shake my head, stuffing my clothes in my dresser. "Best friend."

"But Harry isn't," Evie giggles.

I glare at her. "I already get harassed by Dad about it, I don't need it from you too, E."

"Boys are stupid," Mal says.

I groan. "Now you sound like him, too."

"How would you know, Mal?" Evie asks. "You've never had one."

"It's 'cause I don't need one, E. They're a waste of time."

I flop down on my bed and cross my ankles. "Mal isn't entirely wrong. I mean, one minute they're telling you how pretty you are, and the next they're asking you to do shit for them."

"Shit!" Evie says. "Oh no! I forgot to do Chad's homework!" She gets up and runs over to a backpack and starts to rummage through it.

"And that is exactly what I mean," Mal says.
