The same day...
Arjun's POV-
"Wait, so you're coming back tomorrow right?" Sam asks me through the phone, drinking a protein shake while I'm just doing some homework in our dorm common area.
Sam and I talk pretty much every day on FaceTime; it's almost routine at this point. We spent the entire summer getting to know each other on a deeper level, and it's been... amazing.
She's very interesting as a person. We're complete opposites; she's way more talkative, confident, engaging, and open-minded than I've ever been in my lifetime. That's probably because she's an ENTP and I'm an ISFJ, but who knows? There could be another reason.
But we just click. Despite all our differences, there are many things we have in common; we both hate horror movies, we actually like math and history, we love fried ice cream, and the most important thing: we both agree that My Little Pony reigns supreme to all shows.
That's a fact.
"Yup, we're all coming back together. I'm probably gonna die on the way, though, since I have the worst luck in the world. Roadtrips with Neil always end in at least one death and 30 accidents."
"How dare you? Roadtrips are always fun when I'm there," Neil interjects while he attacks the tomato mozzarella sandwich he made for himself.
"Excuse me? Your sister threw up on the frickin road while driving to South Padre for the long weekend because of food poisoning. From the stupid sandwich that you made," I argue as he slowly starts to glare at me.
"You did not. Come on, you know that it was an accident! I didn't know that the cheese was expired."
Why the heck is he older than me? I'm better off being this guy's father.
"I know that, Neil. But it still reinforces the idea that I don't know what to expect when I travel with you," I conclude as I notice Sam just staring at us amusedly.
"If you think I'm so unsafe, then why did you even want to be roommates with me? Clearly, you think I'm some human safety hazard," he scowls playfully as Sam stifles her laughter.
"Because someone has to tie your shoelaces and make sure you don't oversleep," I smile sadistically and he just scoffs and rolls his eyes.
"Whatever, I'm going to eat my sandwich away from you now. Your hostility towards me is not letting me have a positive eating experience. I hope you fix your problem, Arjun," he gets up and glares at me before going inside his room and slamming the door loudly.
But before you guys assume I pissed him off, I hear his witch cackling on the other side of the door.
"Are you guys done arguing?" Sam starts talking, really weirded out by what just happened.
"Trust me, this happens all the time," I laugh as Sam nods her head in understanding.
"I can't wait for you to come back; I actually..." she trails off, immediately making me confused.
"What?"
"I missed you, Juny." That's legit the first time she's ever said that. Ever.
How do I even say that back? Wait, what if-
You overthink everything, god. Just say it too; we know that you missed her too.
Fine, ok. But if I f***k up, it's on your hands.
"I missed you too, Sam. But I promise you that the moment I get back, we'll buy all the green tea ice cream in Dallas and binge-watch My Little Pony all night."
