Chapter two

Maia pov
I made my way to the back yard and there was sarah out on the dock dangling her feet over the bay. Her back was to me so she couldn't see me. My first thought was to go up and scare her but I decided against it. I didn't want to make her mad already so instead I just went up and sat beside her. It took about 30 seconds for her to even look at me.

"Maia?" She said looking at me tears already filling her eyes. She engulfed me in the biggest hug. I didn't say anything I just wrapped my arms around her and pulled her in tight. I could feel a tear falling from my face.

"I'm back Sarah not just for the summer back for good." I said wiping the tear from her eyes.

"You promise to never leave me again?" She said holding her pinky out.

"I promise" I said wrapping my pinky around hers.

We sat there and talked for a good bit forgetting Topper was there. There was no way he could of been out there or he would of said something. I assumed he ran into Rafe or Mr. Cameron. Once Sarah and me got up we were walking back to the house and she said "you see Rafe yet?"

"Yeah for like 30 seconds before he had to go meet someone" I said rolling my eyes.

"Probably that Ali girl." She covered her mouth quickly and apologized.

"Why are you apologizing Rafe and I are just acquaintances." I said trying to sound convincing but I knew that didn't fool her.

"Come on Maia we all know you guys had a thing right before you moved. I over heard Rafe talking to Topper about it." She said grinning.

"He was talking to Topper about it?" I said shocked I didn't think I was important enough for him to even remember what happened that night. I figured I was just like one of the millions of girls he fucks with.

"Yeah he said that you made him feel a way he never has before. Something about you being the only person to believe in him and how you were different." She said opening the patio door. I was started to talk but quickly shut up when we walked into Rafe and Topper in the kitchen.

"Uh yeah so are you going to Kelces later bro?" Topper said to Rafe acting super weird.

"Maybe depends what ali wants to do." Rafe said glancing over at me knowing that him saying that hurt. "Anyways I have to head out" He said not even making eye contact. After I heard the front door slam I let out a huge breath I had been holding in.

"He's an idiot" Sarah said hitting her self in the head with her hand. Topper nodded and then went over to kiss Sarah. This was the first time I saw them kiss and man was it uncomfortable.

"Gross" I said putting finger down my throat.

"You know if you and Rafe just admitted your feeling you wouldn't have to be so jealous." Topper said smirking and then kissing Sarah again.

"I don't know what you guys think you know but it was one night. Might I mention over a year ago. When I moved that changed everything. Maybe if I stayed there could of been something but I left. He moved on I moved on and that's all their is to it.

"If you say so" Sarah said unlatching from Topper. I rolled my eyes and walked up to Wheezie room.

"Wheez!" I said making her jump while reading her book.

"God you scared me! What are you doing here?" She said getting up to hug me.

"I am back for good!" I said hugging her so tight. Wheez was like my little sister I cared about her so much. I tried to  look after her the best I could. God knows no one else did. We talked for a little that was until she, just like everyone else brought up Rafe.

"I have an idea as a way to get at Rafe you could get with that that hot pogue." She said smirking. I wasn't sure who she was referring to. "You know how jealous that would make him. I think his head would literally explode."

"How many times to I have to say Rafe and I aren't anything. But who is this pogue your talking about?" I said giving her a little smile.

"JJ Maybank" she said smirking again. JJ Maybank my secret crush as I mentioned. He was a dreamy boy blonde hair, blue eyes, and sun kissed skin. How could you not fall for him. His entire friend group was hot. I decided to ignore Wheez and change the subject. I asked her what her plans were for the summer. Sad to say she didn't have much planned.

"Hey Wheezie what do you say tomorrow just you and me have a little beach picnic around noon. I can pick you up in the jeep sound good? I said.

"Perfect!" Wheezie said smiling and hugging me. I left her room my head full of thought. Like did Rafe still think about me like I did him? Would getting with JJ make him mad or would he not care. I knew that JJ would be pretty easy since I am one of the few kooks they like. I actually started hanging out with them the last couple months I was home. All of them are so fun. I was sad to hear about John Bs dad missing at sea. I couldn't imagine how John B feels not knowing whatever happened.

When I went back down stairs Sarah and Topper were cuddling on the couch watching TVD. "Maia you're coming with us to that party tonight." Topper said throwing an m&m at me.

"I don't know guys not really up for it." I said throwing it back at him.

"Yes you are this is like your welcoming home party. Everyone you know is going to be there even the pogues." Sarah said trying to convince me.

"Fine but i'm going to head home and get ready." I hugged them bye until I realized Topper was the one that drove me here. I walked back into the living room while Top and Sarah were mid make out.

"Uhh Top" I said tapping him on the shoulder.

"What Maia." He said in a annoyed tone.

"You drive me here jackass." I said flicking him in the back of the head.

"Right right i'm sorry." He said getting up and grabbing his keys. On the way home we didn't talk much or at all really. My head kept filling with thought of Rafe dirty ones.

"Thanks Top." I said hugging him bye and getting out to shut the door. I walked inside and went upstairs to shower and get ready for tonight.
