Topper pov
When I walked inside of my house I saw an unfamiliar sight. My mom and Maia were sitting down having tea. "Uh hey Maia" I said scratching my head confused.
"Hey Top I was just talking with your mom." She said standing up from the dining room table.
"She was waiting on you so I invited her inside." My mom said with a warm smile.
"Waiting on me?" I asked. Now I was even more confused. "Rafe isn't with me if that's who you wanted to talk to.
"No I wasn't here for Rafe but I need to get going it's almost 6." She said grabbing her keys.
"Can I talk to you quick?" I asked she nodded in agreement and then said bye to my mom. We walked out to my porch so we had privacy. "I just wanted to say sorry for earlier today. You were just trying to get me out of the house and have fun and then I ruined it with the whole Pope thing." I said looking anywhere except her face I didn't want to make eye contact.
"It wasn't all you but I am tired of this pogue vs kook thing. You have a right to be mad at John B right now but Pope never did anything. And i'm not going to put up with you being a dick to them all the time. I know you Topper the real you. You're one of the sweetest guys I ever met and your a secret softie. I'm not saying you have to be best friends with them but at least get along with them when i'm around." She said her blue eyes were scanning my face to see my reaction.
"Okay I will try. Are we doing anything for your birthday in two days?" I asked changing the subject.
"I mean I didn't really have anything planned you know I hate birthdays." She said frowning. It was true she did hate birthdays especially her own.
"All think of something for us all to do even the pogues." I said she smiled at me.
"I know I just gave you a speech about being nice to them but they're pretty pissed at me right now so I don't think they should come. My only other two friends are Sarah and Kei. Obviously Sarah and you aren't going to hangout so maybe you and me could just do something" she suggested. I liked this plan because if i'm being honest I didn't want to do anything with the pogues, sarah, or Rafe.
"Okay perfect I will think of something fun for us to do." I said pulling her in for a hug. We stood there for a minute just hugging until we were interrupted by a loud sound coming from the road. We both looked over and it was Rafe driving past on his motorcycle. Maia rolled her eyes and proceeded to head to her car.
"Bye Top love you!" She said waving from her window while she backed out of my driveway.
There was a point long ago when I was in love with Maia. But she never knew that and I planned to keep it that way. It was a long time ago before she even moved away. I knew if I told her our friendship would either be over because she didn't feel the same way and it would be awkward or if she did feel the same way. Because if we dated and broke up our relationship would never be the same. So I kept my mouth shut and then Sarah came along. She was the one that helped me get over my feelings for Maia. Almost everyone at one point had a crush on Maia. She is perfect she is beautiful, and nice to everyone she meets. She could have anyone and out of everyone she chose Rafe. Don't get me wrong he's my best friend but the biggest douche bag, unless he changes for her I do not want them to date. At the point he is at now he's right he doesn't deserve her. But I know if he works for it he could be the man she deserves but only time will tell.
Maia pov
I was suppose to have dinner with Jj tonight which I was assuming was canceled from everything that happened today. I didn't even bother getting ready because it was 6:30 already and I didn't have one text from Jj. I changed into my pajamas and put on one of my favorite movies "flipped" in the living room. While I was watching the movie I got a text from Kei.
