Ch 11 Who are you?

"Checkmate." Shikaku's low voice spoke, which easily drowned among the chattering birds and wistful winds.

The two had been playing for a while now, about an hour and half to be more specific, and both had yet to find a way to capture another's king. Till now that is.

"So who are you?" Shikaku asked, " For a starter, you definitely played well." In fact he played great. It has been days since Shikaku had to think so much while playing shogi. Ofcourse there are people in the village that pose somewhat of a challenge to him, but the number of them is so liitle that Shikaku had already played enough with them to memorize their stratagems.

"It was beginners luck." Sasuke smiled through his sweats. This man really lived up to his name. Shogi with a Nara was much harder then Shogi with a sannin, but of course the result was the same as it was expected. Sasuke lost.

"Is that so, well your not answering my question." Shikaku sighed sleepily "Who are you?"

Sasuke smiled, "It is a top secret, ask the hokage."

Shikaku smirked "Hmm I see, however the Article 47 of Leaf states that during a act of a crisis , Jonin commander." The proclaimed Jonin commander points at himself, "The Anbu Commander and the head of T&I, can discuss Top Secret without the permission of their kage to some extent."

Whoever made this article should die but Sasuke smiled through, "A crisis?"

"Why of course the third Shinobi war, the article surely applies at a war as cruel as this." Shikaku says.

'right, the war after this was so bad that I keep neglecting this one.' it was only then Sasuke realized that what he came to fix was not all the deaths, but his regrets. Otherwise the Uchiha would have shown more interest on the war right?

But now is not the time for self reflection, "I can't help but feel that Shikaku-sama is bending the article to suit himself."

"Your thinking too much, Sasuke-san." Shikaku light says.

Sasuke sighed and started crafting a scheme to get out of this mess. But of course Shikaku, that sly jounin, had countered all of the excuses thrown at him and refused to leave the matter.

Many people had already found out about the past, anymore and the future will become nothing but a bigger ordeal. It was then Sasuke decided to escape forcfully. Ofcourse Shikaku will keep chasing him but atleast Sasuke can be more prepared.

"What a odd scene to see, who would have thought Shikaku and Sasuke-san will get along." Turning his head, the Uchiha couldn't help but thank the yamanaka in front of him.

While managing the flower shop in his wife's stead for a while, the head of the sensory department spotted the Uchiha getting dragged by shikaku. Getting a rough grasp of the situation Inoichi tailed the two and looked for the perfect moment to get the Uchiha out.

"...Inoichi." Shikaku was definitely dissatisfied with how things were unfolding. "I thought you had reports to make to the hokage, how are you laxed during the war."

"Same goes to you, chief jounin commander and acting advisor of the hokage, now isn't the time for Shogi." Inoichi diverted the blame "The hokage called for Sasuke so I came to fetch him.

"Well Sasuke-san..." But the yamanaka never finished his word because before he could, the named was already gone. Neither of the Shinobi had sensed his disappearance "When did he-"

"He managed to slip huh.." Shikaku yawned lazily, "Inoichi, enough beating around the bushes, who- no what is he." Shikaku changed his tone. Though he looked like another human, something about him just felt different. Like he didn't belong on this earth- rather this timeline.

Inoichi knew his friend well, Shikaku had already gotten a rough grasp of Sasuke's existence. "Whatever he is, ordinary people like us should not associate with him. His... Not meant to be around the crowd."

Shikaku remained silent when his teammates voice spoke gravely. Snorting, he finally dropped the topic and the two friends started talking about much lighter topics.

Sasuke gave out an inaudible sigh. He was better fitted for the battlefield then whatever this was.

Sensing a familiar yet weaker then he remember chakra approach him, the time Traveller smiled, "It's been a while hasn't it,

Sasuke Uchiha san" Orichimaru smiled.

Maintaining his features, Sasuke debated whether he should kill the snake right here or not. Alas, he decided not to.

"Yes it has, how is your experiments going?" And there was a kunai that dug through his neck a moment later.

Well maybe it's time to stop this mess. He didn't come to babysit konoha.
