Breakthrough

Nine looked around at the strange encounter.
Mill made a new friend?
And they were at a barbecue?
He invited everyone for another round tonight so they could make friends.
"Hi everyone, this is Jisung!" Mill introduced him. He waved excited to meet new faces.
And then they all chatted.
"A BBQ at 4pm?" Rie joked.
"Yes perfect time for a BBQ!" Jisung rejoiced as he pulled out a cigarette. Mill noticed the group looked at him weird.
"Well let's get a move on! It'll be terrible if the food gets cold!" He awkwardly laughed trying to change the subject.
The group nodded and they scurried along.
The six went up to Jisung's apartment and opened the door.
Soon he brought them in and they all took seats out in the patio.
Nine sat down and looked up at the grill. He saw the person grilling and realized this was the host. However, something felt different.
"He looks familiar..." Nine couldn't stop thinking about it.
He pulled out his phone underneath the table and opened up his messages on SoundCloud. He gave a curious look as he saw more spotlight artists. The one that caught his eye was a producer r&b singer and rapper in his DM's.
His account went by the name KB.
He looked up. It was uncanny.
The producer in the profile photo was the same guy.
How the stars aligned.
Mill noticed Nine's expressions change and whispered into his ear.
"The dude who you wanted to collab on SoundCloud remember? KB." Mill whispered.
Nine smiled. He looked over at Mill and gave a grateful expression.
"I'll go see how that grilled beef looks like." Nine excused himself he walked over to KB.
The group chitchatted in the background.
As Nine walked closer up to KB, he could hear the sizzling drown out any small talk.

"Hey..KB right? Are you still up for making some songs together?"
KB flipped the beef and thought long and hard.
Nine added, "We've got four who can dance and two who can produce! I can show you some demos!" He was trying not to come off as desperate.
He watched KB's expression turn a bit reminiscent.
"I didn't want to tell anyone because it might be silly but..." Kyubin finally had the guts to tell him why he quit making music as frequently.
Nine waited in anticipation.
"It's just life. Day by day music just wasn't something that was working." KB sighed as the put the hotdogs on another plate.
"Well then you can start fresh with us." Nine met his eyes, looking to reignite the spark.
KB was hesitant. He was reluctant to let some naïve high schoolers tell him what to do with his future. Going back into music could jeopardize his time and money. Two things that are very crucial. He inhaled, thinking it all over.
He looked up at Nine, determined.
"Show me what you got."
Nine beamed.
"I won't let you down!" The eager heart of his swelled.
He simply can't let him down.
