Sunday's POV

“I’m freaking out Kara, school starts tomorrow! Where did all the holidays go? Why didn't you tell me?” I exclaimed in one breath while jumping up and down on my bed.

“Sorry I thought–” started Kara from my study chair.

“And I just remembered! It’s our last year of high school! Senior year! How could have I forgotten? Does this mean that my parents will be kicking me out? I’m not ready to become a hobo yet!” I mindlessly interrupted with my flow of verbal diarrhoea.

“No, of course–” Kara again started.

“What has my life come to? And why is the sky blue?” I pondered now hopping on one leg.

“WILL YOU SHUT UP FOR A SECOND AND SIT DOWN?” Kara’s face looked pretty angry.

“Sheesh, no need to be snappy” I muttered while pulling out a lollipop from my pocket and handing it to Kara while sitting down on the bed covers. My little brother Fry says that lollipops can help people calm down.

“Sorry, your craziness sometimes gets to me” Kara said with an apologetic expression.

“Nah, it’s cool. I should be saying sorry. I am the one that rambled like a spastic” I replied half regretfully.

Yeah, so I am the type of person who completely freaks out at the smallest of things but in my defence, school is not classified under the ‘smallest of things’.

Even though school isn’t something I usually take seriously, the fact that there is a possibility that I will be kicked out if I don’t do well is something I do keep in mind. I’m not sure if my parents were joking when they told me this, but I’m not willing to take any risks, especially if it means parting with my warm bed. I just don’t get why my parents didn’t tell me that school is tomorrow.

Wait, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Sunday Avery Jones and I am not crazy. I’m just uniquely unusual to most people. Or at least the shrink my mum took me to when I was 10 declared so.

I am 17 years old and I will be starting my last year of high school. This revelation came to me 10 minutes ago when I was on the toilet.

Hmm… Toilet. What a weird word.

Toilet.

Toilet.

Toilet.

Toilet Toilet Toilet.

Haha! TOILET!

I’m so lucky that my parents named me Sunday instead of ‘toilet’. How embarrassing would that be? I bet everyone would call me–

“You in la-la land again Sunny?” Kara interrupted my toilet based thinking.

Pfft... More like toilet land I silently muse.

“TOILET!” I yell.

Kara stared at me oddly. “What did you just say?”

“I said ‘toilet!’”

“Yeah, I got that… but why? Wait, don’t even answer, I should know how weird you are.” She mumbled under her breath.

I just grinned like a maniac in reply.

So there you have it, my friend, normal Kara. I’ve always wondered why she wanted to be friends with me. As much as we have a lot in common, we also are really different. But anyone who volunteers to hang with me should be given credit.
