Listless Princess

Chapter 8

Yesterday night, I dreamt about my very first life, what a wonderful dream the world could ever give me on my birthday night. Now, I can't avoid thinking about it anymore the whole day. 

And I remembered him... but his face was very blurry in my memory.

Also now that I think about it, it was only in my first life where he used that 'sword' to behead me. It was a very long time ago that I forgot how the sword felt in my neck, it was a clean cut, unlike my painful previous executions.

The sword that used to kill the tyrant Emperor in the past, it was only in my 50-ish life that I found out what it really was. It was a sword that was specifically handed down to the heir of Obelia, it held a special meaning to every Emperors, but I wonder how it ended up in his hands before he became the Emperor and slayed the Tyrant Emperor and why did he used it on me?

Anyways, none of that is of my concern so I would rather not think to much about it. 

I got up from my bed and washed my hair and body with magic as usual and after I dressed up, I went to the garden with Tania with some snacks and tea. Lily was doing something else so she couldn't accompany me but she said she'll catch up later. 

Another peaceful day, I'm very happy...

"Tania, you have been living in the ruby palace since you were young right?" I asked Tania as we ate some snacks. She nodded and gave me a smile, "Yes, but why are you asking me that, princess?"

I looked into her eyes, then I fed her a cookie, "Aren't you curious about the outside world?"

Before she could speak she swallowed the cookie first and smiled at me once again, "Of course, I'm very curious... but a humble maid like me can only stay here"

"why?" I asked. 

Then surprisingly, she replied with some unexpected words coming right after a little girls lips, "Because the outside world is scary and there are some irresponsible adults out there, even orphanages is not that good of a place, there are only a few where they really takes good care for children. And if I wander out there in my current situation, I will certainly not survive..." 

Looking at her, unlike her childish outer appearance, Tania is surprisingly a very matured kid. She was once a noble but her parents died on an accident and her corrupt uncle took over the household and she was force to enter the palace as a maid, and ended up working for me. 

"Tania is so mature" I mumbled, patting her fluffy dark blue hair. 

Flustered, Tania fumbled on her words, "I-I... you're one to talk, princess..." 

Normally what she had said would be rude to a princess like me but I don't mind it, because Tania is a precious friend of mine. Also we're the same age physically so she can also be considered as my playmate. So we would occasionally play in garden and do a picnic. 

I looked at her, and her orbs met mine, "W-what is it, princess? You're looking at my eyes again" 

"Athy like Tania's yellow eyes, it's so pretty like the sunlight!" 

After hearing my compliments, Tania felt embarrassed and covered up her face with her hands. Gosh teasing her is so fun! 

She slightly moved a finger in her face and her eyes peeked at me and it looked down, still feeling embarrassed, Tania mumbled in her breath, "Princess's eyes is pretty too, those jeweled eyes reminds me of the moon at night, and it shines prettiest at night too" 

In my very first life, I was very proud of my eyes because I have the same eyes as him, but as I keep dying and meeting him again and again and that pair of eyes of his was looking at me colder and colder, as if it could kill. and when I knew that he hated me more than anyone else in the world, I keep resenting these eyes, I blamed myself for having these eyes but these people, Lily, Tania and that one certain guy whose name I have seemed to forget... 

{Your eyes reminds me of the moon, it shines the prettiest at night...}

they... they loved it for me.

"Princess!" A familiar voice was heard, it was Lily. So she finished what she was doing. But her voice seemed uneasy. She came running and is currently catching up her breath. Curious, I asked her, "What's wrong, Lily?" 

Tania also be looking kind of worried too.  What was happening?

"Princess, Emperor was said to be looking for you." 

What? Excuse me?!

In a split second I secretly activated my clairvoyance magic and sneaked a peek at the entrance of the ruby palace's gates, 

the Emperor's Royal Guard, Felix Robane was there.
