I sat on a step lazily, drinking a cool beverage as I watched Zuko train with the avatar. They ended their session, taking a deep breath. A whistle left me, embarrassing Zuko. As I was teasing him more, Sokka ran in; blabbing about something. I wasn't paying attention, still toying with the male.Somehow, we ended up at a theater watching a play about ourselves. It was funny to see how bad the actors were. They really took the basics of our character, almost comical at how stupid it was. Katata was a whiney crybaby like always, Sokka told bad jokes, Aang was a pranking woman, Toph was a buff man, Zuko was gruff and humorless, and I was... very sultry. Every sentence that left the actresses mouth was some sort of mean flirtation.
Once the trashy play was finally over, I was more than ready to leave. We began returning home, discouraged due to how we were portrayed along with the ending of the play being very disheartening. Once back at our lodging, everyone was more than ready to sleep; especially me. "(Y/n), could I talk to you for a second?" Aang questioned, making me huff in irritation.
"What's up, little man?" I teased, grabbing a fruit and eating it as I haphazardly listened to what he was saying.
"How's your relationship with Zuko been?" That was a question I didn't expect coming from him.
"What's it to you? There a problem with us or something?" I didn't care if he was the avatar, I was ready to punch him in his little face.
"Not at all!" He waved his hands quickly. "I just mean... well, there's a war going on right now..." He rubbed the back of his head.
"Yeah, so?" I shrugged, quickly settling down after the little outburst.
"I mean, how do you two keep each other close when there's so much going on?" He asked.
I shrugged my shoulders, not really having an answer for him. "What do you mean?!" He groaned, clutching his head. "Everytime I see you two together it's like you guys were made for each other!"
"What's with the yelling?" Zuko asked as he entered the room Aang and I were in. "Is something going on here?" Possessiveness was evident in his voice as he pulled me closer to him.
"I guess this is one reason." I shrugged, confusing them both. "He loves me like a dog, and I let him."
"I do not!" Zuko huffed, face burning red.
"So he doesn't love me then. Guess this doesn't matter." I began to take off my betrothal necklace, toying with Zuko.
"No, no! I do love you, and you're keeping that on!" He huffed, pulling my hands away.
"Like a said, like a dog." I laughed, pulling Zuko along by the collar of his shirt.
"That doesn't answer my question!" Aang groaned heavily.
Once Zuko and I returned to our own room, I laid on the bed without a second thought. "What were you two talking about?" Zuko asked as he began to stroke my hair.
"Just how I still put up with you." Despite the mean comment, I was melting at his touch almost falling asleep at it.
"Why does he care?" He huffed.
"Ask him." I shrugged, not caring either way.
"I will." He nodded, hastily leaving to find the kid.
I groaned as his warm hands left, enjoying how it felt. He's been chasing after the avatar for what seemed like forever. And now that everyone was sharing housing for the moment, it shouldn't be too hard to find him. Slowly, I began to fall asleep as I waited for him to return.
Zuko's pov
'Why is Aang asking questions about (Y/n) and I? He better not be trying to worm his way in between us.' I grumbled at my thoughts, going back to the last place I saw him. He was still there, just standing as if he was lost in thought. "Great, I can ask you too!" Aang exclaimed, a large smile on his face.
"Ask me what?" I huffed, arms crossed over my chest.
I lost her once because of my bad decisions, and I won't do it again. "You and (Y/n) are happy together, right?" His question irritated me more.
"Yeah, so?" My hands clenched my arms harshly, trying not to lose my cool.
"You must be if you guys are starting to sound alike." He chuckled, a bright smile on his face. "But I wanted to know how you guys, like, keep loving each other with the war and stuff going on?"
My irritation turned into confusion, the grip on my arms loosening. "Well, (Y/n)'s a strong girl. She takes what she wants and beats up anyone who gets in her way." I shrugged. "I remember one time, I tried taking one of the many pastries I got her, and she nearly bit my head off."
I chuckled at the memory, shaking my head slightly. "You two really care for each other." He smiled, but it seemed as if there was a sadness behind it.
"Why do you ask? I haven't done anything wrong, right? She would've told me." I slightly whispered, afraid she'd appear behind me and smack me in the back of the head for even thinking what I said.
"Nothing like that." He waved his hands, a sad chuckle leaving him. "It's just... I really like Katara, and we even kissed during the start of the invasion! But it feels like she just wants us to be friends..."
"Oh, that is tricky." I rubbed my chin in thought, wondering what advice to give him.
"Should I give her a betrothal necklace like you did with (Y/n)? Plan a big wedding or something?" He was starting to get way ahead of himself.
"Not in the middle of a war. Maybe after you defeat my father." I offered a solution. "Also we didn't have a wedding. We just... went to work afterwards."
After those very sensual nights we shared. "I thought every girl wanted a big wedding?" Aang was taken aback.
"Who's getting married?" Toph appeared, scaring both of us.
"Zuko was telling me about how him and (Y/n) didn't have a wedding." Aang said, rather loudly at that.
"What!?" Katara shrieked, storming from her room. "You marry my sister, and you don't even have a proper wedding?!"
"We didn't really plan it. It just sort of happened." I tried soothing her anger, which didn't work.
"How long have you guys been together?!" She questioned, glaring at me nonstop.
"A few months?" With everything going on, I hadn't really kept track.
"Do you at least know what date your anniversary is?" It seems like she was trying to think of any reason to pull us apart.
"Of course I do." I huffed, telling her the date.
"This isn't going to work." Katara shook her head, hands on her hips in disapproval. "Tomorrow we're getting everything we need to set up the wedding for the following day."
"Do you think (Y/n)'s the type for big weddings?" Aang whispered to me.
"She doesn't like anything unless it's fighting, food, sleeping, or me. I don't think so." I whispered back, shaking my head.
"This isn't a discussion!" Katara huffed, irritated at our whispering. "You two will have a proper water tribe wedding and that's it!"
She stormed back to her room, probably about to plan about how to set everything up. The three of us looked at each other, well, Toph stared at a wall somewhat near our direction. "Who's gonna be your best man?" Toph joked, it seems not even an angry Katara can dull her teasing.
"I have so much to think about now." I groaned, wondering how to set it up perfectly for (Y/n); after all, she deserves only the best.
I wonder if she even wants a wedding?
