Jane's POV
"Answer the King!" The Guard yelled at me, I was about to speak when he shoved me to the ground and knocked the wind out of my lungs causing me to gasp.
"My name is Jane" I managed to struggle out between gasps of air. Suddenly I felt someone grab me and help me up; I looked at the stranger who was now holding my arms tightly to make sure I wouldn't fall again. He said something to the Guard but I didn't take any notice. I was too distracted by how handsome this stranger was. His hair which I imagine was a wig was black in ringlets reaching just past his shoulder blades; his lips were a plump pink colour and his body was a tall slender frame which looked quite fetching in the garments he was wearing. But what really caught my attention were his eyes, they were a deep mesmerising brown.
"Jane, do you have anything to say that may help your accusation?" My day dreaming was woken by the Kings question, was I starting at the stranger?
"I didn't steal anything, my Lord. It was a case of mistaken identity" I desperately tried to explain to the King.
"I'm sorry Jane but with no proof how am I to believe you?" The King questioned again.
"You can't" I said losing all hope.
"Well in that case I sentence you to...." The King began before being interrupted by the stranger who had now let go of my arms; causing me to quiver in his absence.
"Wait!" he yelled. Everyone including myself was now staring at him in shock. "She can be Lady Eleanor's servant girl, she is going to need someone to help her" Who is Lady Eleanor? I thought to myself.
After a few moments of thinking the King agreed with the stranger and employed me to work for Lady Eleanor. "Thank you so much my Lord, I am forever grateful" I bowed as humbly as I could to show my gratitude.
"Guard you are dismissed" The King ordered. He quickly left leaving myself, the King and the stranger in the court room. "Now Jane, you will be the servant to Lady Eleanor"
"Pardon me my King but if I may ask, who is Lady Eleanor?
"She is my niece and cousin to the Prince here" the King replied pointing towards the stranger. Hold up, he's a Prince?! I thought to myself I was staring at the Prince? I hung my head in shame.
"Are you well?" a concerned voice asked. I looked up to see the Prince staring at me with worry in his eyes.
Looking back into his I replied with "Er...Quite well" trying to cover up my embarrassment.
"Son, why don't you take Jane to Eleanor's Chambers" The King suggested "And then show her to where she will be staying as well"
"Shall we?" The Prince asked gesturing towards the door. I bowed one last time to the King and walked out after the Prince down the Castle halls. We walked in silence until we reached a huge door. "This is where Lady Eleanor will be staying" he began to explain, pushing the door open he walked in with me following closely behind. He showed me her bed, her closet and some of her belongings that had already arrived. "And this is where you will be staying" he said while leading me to a door opposite Lady Eleanor's bed. I walked into the room and was instantly impressed by how big it was; my old house was only two rooms, the main room and bedroom. "I trust everything is up to your standards?" the Prince asked, smirking to himself.
Still admiring the room I replied "Yes, it is perfect" I decided that I should probably thank the Prince for what he did for me, after all if he hadn't I would be locked in the dungeon right now. I turned around to face him but caught him staring at me; I began fumbling with my hands nervously before saying "So..... Thank you for what you did for me......er Sir". He began smiling to himself and holy wow was that a beautiful smile.
"You're welcome and please call me Charles" he continued smiling. The awkwardness grew between us and eventually he decided to dismiss himself from my room so that I may settle down. "I will send some men to collect your things" he stated "Good day Jane" we bowed to each other before he left.
"Thank you....Charles" I whispered to nobody but myself.
