   ~This imagine was requested by BakerStreetBaggins! Thanks for requesting!! :) Imagine meeting Matthew in London... Pretty much everything is the same in this story, except for Matthew and Mary being together. They all have accepted him and he is living there, helping with the estate, but Mary is being chased by other suitors as they were not meant to be.~

         It was a wet and rainy day in London, and you were soaking wet. Your car had broken down awhile back, and you couldn't sit still in that car any longer. You needed to get out. Breath the fresh air. Stretch your legs. The only problem was that it was pouring rain, so you had decided against it for awhile. That was, until, your driver, who was under the hood of the car in the rain, got electrocuted. Of course, water and electricity don't mix well, so the poor driver didn't even see it coming. You shrieked and jumped out of the car. You ran over to him, and tried to pull him out of the street. In the process your dress got caught on the car, and ripped terribly. You huffed while pulling the large man onto the sidewalk, and even though it was difficult, you got the job done. You screamed for help, but no one seemed to be around.

        Then, a car passed by. You jumped up and waved your hands, but they only pressed on the gas and sped away. You supposed you looked like a murderous crazy lady, soaking wet outside in the pouring rain, a damaged car and an unconscious man underneath you, with your dressed badly ripped in multiple places.

        You growled angrily, and decided the man desperately needed help. You decided to go to the shops and market that was up the road, and beg for help. Surely someone would help you, right?

        A few minutes later, you found out, wrong. People ran away in horror at the sight of you. Your makeup was now badly smeared, your hair was a mess, dress was probably unsalvageable, and you were screaming and crying in desperation. But everyone just thought you were insane. No one even gave a second thought to help you.

        15 minutes later, you were sobbing on the sidewalk, afraid for your driver's life and how you would get home. It was a two hour drive home, at least. There was no way you could walk, that would take forever and surely you would have fallen extremely ill in that time, in the freezing rain.

        Then, suddenly, you heard someone yell, "Stop the car!" and a nearby car on the street screeched to a halt. A man jumped out of the backseat, a black top-hat on top of his strawberry blonde hair. (See picture) "Miss, are you alright?" He asked kindly once he reached you, his blue eyes showing geniune care and concern. "No, no it certainly is not." You sobbed. He reached out and gently laid his hand on your arm. "It's alright now, can you tell me what's wrong?" He said softly. You nodded, and explained everything that had happened. He quickly lead to his car, and guided you, helping you into it. He shut the door once he got in next to you. "Where was your car, milady?" He asked kindly. You gave the driver directions and tried not to cry.

        Once you got there, the driver and the handsome man, (yes, you had come to the realization that you quite fancied him on the way there) immediately jumped out. He and his driver inspected the man, and came to the conclusion that he immediately needed to see a doctor. Seeing that you were cold, wet, and shivering, the man took off his coat and draped it over your shoulders. "We need to get her by a fire and some warm liquid in her, immediately, as well." The man said to the driver, and he nodded. The man thought for a moment. "Do you think he is in any condition to  be lifted into the car?" He asked. The driver shook his head. "No sir. It could hurt him even worse." He informed him. The man nodded slowly. "I'll take the lady here back to Downton. You stay here, and I'll have the Doctor sent here as soon as possible." "Yes sir." The driver immediately replied. "Alright, milady." He said, gesturing to the passenger seat as he opened the door for you. "Please, call me y/n" You attempted to smile.

        He smiled and said "Y/N. In you go." You thanked him and got in. He closed the door behind you and went around the car to the front seat. "You're going to drive?" You questioned. "Yes. Is that alright with you?"

        You laughed. "Yes, that's fine. It's just that most men wouldn't dare..." He chuckled. "I'm not most men." He started the car and it rumbled down the road.

        "I'm called Matthew, by the way." He said, smiling at you. "It's nice to meet you, Matthew. I think owe you. You did save my life after all, when no one else would." You smiled in return, already starting to feel better. "Nonsense." He chuckled.

        Quite awhile later, you arrived at Downton. He hurried you inside, thankfully the rain was starting to ease up.

        He explained what happened to you to everyone as he ushered you inside. You were immediately taken care of.

        "Her driver needs help immediately by the Doctor (just not THE Doctor if you know what I mean hehe. Okay, okay, fangirl out.)

~~~A few days later~~~
You woke up from a deep sleep, after being put to bed, you were so exhausted they just let you stay there and sleep. Your eyes fluttered open and you cringed at the bright light. "Morning." You heard a voice say from beside your bed. You turned you head to see who was speaking. You smiled at the sight of him.
        "Matthew...You've stayed here all along?" You almost whispered. He smiled in return and folded the newspaper he was reading. "Of course." "Thank you." You said whole heartily.  He nodded. "Like I said, of course." He started reading his newspaper again and you took a deep breath in. "Actually, there is something." He said behind the newspaper and you turned toward him. He lowered the newspaper once more and said, "Have dinner with me sometime?"
