Li Wei loves the human race, he really does. After all, he did spend thousands of his seemingly eternal life mingling in the midst of humans. But even then he wonders why the hell does humans make everything so complicated?!Grumbling while he paces around his living room in a house that he bought not long ago. Folding his arm and cursing annoying people that he had encountered. Eventually, calmer than before he sat at one of his comfortable sofas and sank his body in, brooding but thinking.
He had been interrogated by his new pesky neighbors about his 'job' they are wondering how come he can even afford this house at such a 'young' age, he frowns his face as he recalls them saying that he is such an independent boy, living on his own. "They're even younger than me!" He grumbled out of spite.
Running through his currently soft short hair he then thinks to himself about their faces when he said that he didn't have a job, those had been hilarious, watching their face aghast at the revelation, but then as quickly as it appears their face turns into annoying pitiful expressions, pitying him. Whatever conclusions that they have reached on their own he didn't give a single flying fuck.
He contemplated on the development the world had made since his time here. A lot of changes have been made over the years, that's for sure. He'd seen wars, revolutions, and so on his time in this land that they now called mainland China. Then he thought about what the neighborhood grannies had said about jobs. He didn't relish the thought of working for his life, and he didn't actually need to work, since he can very much fill his needs thank you.
But something those grannies said piqued his interest. Working, he thought, labor for a change of wages. He didn't see the thrill of it, but he understands people's need for it. In the distant past, he could recall the scolding he received from a certain female friend long ago.
"People's not like you, we need our basic necessities, and in this unfair world we live in, we need to earn it."
He fondly remembers those words, while it was spoken out of disgust, anything that person spoke became something memorable and a fond memory for him. An admiration that he has for that person made him curious about what it feels like to work for his life... He didn't actually need to work, but in the end, he was curious about the experience. And a curious Li Wei is a determined Li Wei, so he would get one for himself. Even for the damn of it.
There's also the fact that he can't exactly do what he used to do either. Because first of all it's not even legal, and by a strict government they now have, legalities might be an issue. Second of all, because of technological advancement, they could actually track him. He shivered at the thought.
He hadn't particularly cared about the legalities of things. Clearly, it was shown that if he were to count his 'crimes' the things he did would probably serve him dozens of years in prison. Trickery and mischief are his forté after all. It would be foolish to think that he's innocent after thousands of years living.
There's also his nature as a demon, compared to other demons, he figures that he's actually pretty mild. Mild, yes. But still a demon nonetheless, and an old one at that too.
Oh, and he wandered off again- shaking his head to concentrate- anyways back to the issue of him getting a job.
An idea popped out of his mind, he brushed his hand, chuckles escaped his lips. An unsettling grin on his face and his eyes gleaming with mischief.
....
Getting a job for himself, in some kind of corporate for that matter, means that he's filling the role of the popular-mischievous-good-guy and the devil's advocate at the same time. He's popular around people, but he's pissed people off too. So people both love and hate him, and he couldn't ask for more. Though he did his job as it should be nonetheless and fairly good at it too, so nobody has an actual reason to scold him.
