Evelyn's POVCurrently I was getting dressed and texting Carl. I walk to my living room and turn on the TV so I can know what the weather is going to be like.
"A park, somewhere we thought would be the last place for violence proved us wrong. Last night there was an unknown bombing, killing twenty people." The news reporter said sadly
"Only two survived; a young four year old boy and his mother who are now in an intensive care unit. There will be a candle light vigil Thursday at nine pm." The news reporter said before they went to the meteorologist.
"Carl, there was a bombing at the park." I texted Carl
"Yes, I hear." He texted back.
"Why a park though?" I asked texting him
The whole ordeal grinded my gears, is that the point?
"I don't even know. I just know its sick." He texted back
"Yeah, well I'll probably get to be one of there nurses so let me get the kleenex ready"
I walked back to my room and decided on my new true religion shirt and some black leggings. I grab my car keys and look at the picture of my parents.
"I miss you guys" I mumble before leaving the house and getting in my Jeep.
Traffic was horrible, it was rush hour. I was about to be late to class if I didn't hurry. I quickly made it to my classroom and sat down beside my partner. It was technically torture in there, all they talked about was the bomb that went off in the park. We didn't even learn anything in there that day, even my partner wouldn't shut up about it.
It was eleven o'clock when I got out of there. Two hours of just talking, why talk about tragedy? I get in my car and pull out of the parking lot and speed down the road. I go to Starbucks to get the usual, a vanilla bean and cheese danish when I see the same strange dude from last time. He was wearing a black pair of chinos, a crisp white T-shirt and some pair of ankle boots. The cashier that was supposed to be at the cash register was talking to him, not even paying me any mind.
"Excuse me.." I finally say after feeling my patience dwindle.
The cashier and strange man looked at me; the cahier looking at me with so much spite. The strange man couldn't have been that old, twenty five at the most. He was gorgeous like he was carved by angels but he had this strange aura hanging around him.
"I'm busy serving a customer" She says before flipping her burnette hair.
"Well I'm a customer too, so I'd appreciate some customer service" I say slowly
She was really getting on my nerves now and you don't want me angry.
"You don't need anything from here anyways, your already fat!" She says in a higher voice
I heard some awes, one thing I learned is to never let anyone humiliate you or make you feel like shit.
"Well it sure beats getting injected by silicone to make it look like I have something" I say
All the younger people started to whoop in holler as I just won this argument. But then I look back at the cashier and she's longing herself at me. I quickly grab her and push her to the floor and just sit on her. And at that moment Carl ironically walks in with a priceless face.
"What the hell?" He says in the utter most confusion
"She tried to fight me?!" I defend
"Get this fat bitch off of me!" The cashier screams
Carl looks over at the man and glares who was just sitting there casually sipping his drink. Carl walks over and help me get up as the cashier rolls over.
"Evelyn, come on" Carl says and we walk to my car.
"Get in the passenger seat." Carl says
"What?" I say confused
"Just get in" He says
I slowly slide in the passenger seat and hand him the keys before he pulls off to god knows where.
