Evelyn's POV

I drop the salad into my shopping basket before looking around some more. I stopped at my favorite organic grocery store; its small and has a home feeling. I had to stop after I got dressed for work. All I could do was think about Carl kissing me; holding me. I grab some chips and make my way to the register when I got a text.

"Btw, your a great kisser." Carl texted

You ever had that moment when someone said something like what Carl said and all you can do is try not to give a cheeky smile or blush? Well that's what I was experiencing at the cash register as the cashier gave me strange looks.

"Eighteen dollars and seven cents." The cashier said

I paid for my stuff before walking out to my car before driving off to the hospital. I look at the time to see it's seven forty five, I have fifteen minutes left. I pulled into the parking lot that was across the street from the hospital before grabbing my stuff, crossing the street, and going into the hospital.

"Evelyn!" My work friend, Alex said.

"Hey Alex!" I say

"You know we have the bombing victims right?" She asked

"Yes, do I have any?" I ask. I didn't want to do it because it was sad enough to hear about it but going in there to look at them with third degree burns wasn't kicking right with me.

"Yeah, you have the mom and son, the ones that survived." Alex said

I can't do shifts like these because sometimes I can give the whole water works over mushy stuff. I sigh and make my way to my level on in the intensive care unit. I walked to the nurses square in the hallway and greeted everyone before setting my stuff down and logging into my computer.

"Evelyn, room two zero four needs pain medicine." My fellow nurse said

"The mom or son?" I ask

"Mom" the nurse replied

I got up and went to the supply room and got her pain medicine before walking to her room.

"Ms.Green?" I ask as I knock on th door

"Come in.." A weak female voice sais

I walked in and saw a horrible sight. The woman was covered in bandages from third degree burns and the room smelled like burned flesh. The woman had tubes running all around her that belonged to multiple machines. The woman's remaining hair was in a small messy bun.

"Your quicker than my last nurse." The woman said

"I just know not to take all day when it comes to pain medication, especially when someone walks slower than molasses." I joke

The woman laughed but quickly stopped, I think it hurt to laugh. Who am I kidding, it does hurt.

"Funniest thing I've heard in two days now. I don't like hearing sad things..." The woman trails off

I inject her pain medicine into her tubing and walked towards the door.

"Wait, don't go. I don't have company and I like you." The woman said

I walked to the small green chair right beside her bed and looked at the television show she was watching.

"I'm not going to make it. It's ashamed that in these last two days I learned who was really there for me. I have to leave my son now and don't get me started on my son. His father hasn't been in his life for four years and didn't dare visit him while he's in the hospital." The woman said

It sounded so sad, simple words that gave such a big picture. Its like an Aztec painting: so many small that tells a story.

"Listen, to this good because I should've. Forgive people but don't make them your friends. Don't give people third chances, don't please others, just yourself. I should've listened to those cliché words a long time ago but I didn't." She said

"Ms. Greene." I start to say

"Call me Samantha, that's my name and I want to be called what I was given for birth as I lay here on my death bed." Samantha started to say

"Your going to make it, we have so many doctors here." I say

"I don't need to be saved and look like this. That's not how I want to be remembered. Anyways I already lost the battle." Samantha says

Before I know it I see Samantha look at the ceiling before I heard a deep exhale. She didn't move or anything. Before I could make sure, I ran into the hallways and start screaming.

"She's dead! Hurry up we need to revive her, do something!" I scream

About three doctors and ten nurses came in. I watched as they tried some of everything but she didn't move. She was really dead.

Henry's POV

My necklace started glowing and I knew my servants were busy so I did it myself. I teleported to the hospital and go to the room where a survivor from the bombing was. The girl from Starbucks was there too, sitting right beside her bed. The woman looks at me abs nods her head before I kiss her forehead and watch as her life leaves her body. The girl got up from the chair and ran to the door screaming for help as I teleport back to my realm.
