Evelyn's POV
"Hello, I came to enroll John." I tell the lady at the font desk at the local elementary school.
"Are you a legal guardian?" The lady asks in a nasal voice
"Yes, I am." I say
Why would I sign him up if I wasn't?
"I'm going to need you to sign a couple of papers." The lady says collecting a stack of papers and handing them to me.
I get the paper and sit down beside John and smile at him.
"Those are a lot of papers." John examines
"Yeah, I hope they don't eat us." I joke
It took me ten minutes to sign the papers before I handed them back to the woman at the desk and she looked over them. She set them down and picked up the phone. "Dr. Frank, we had a guardian enroll a student for school." The woman said into the phone. "Okay, yes sir."
Soon afterwards a slender middle aged man entered the office.
"Ms.Smith?" The man bellows out
I stand up with John and follow him to an office.
"So, you filled out the paper work and your child can start their first day in one to two days. Here's a student handbook with dress code and disciplinary procedures. Any questions?"
"No, John do you?" I asked
John shook his head no
"Okay then, welcome to Oak Heights Elementary" The man said before John and I left the school.
"Man, he was creepy." John said
"Yeah, he was a little." I said smiling at John.
"Want to see Carl?" I ask
"Yes!" John screams from his car seat
The day after John came home with me, Carl came over and immediately the two were inseparable.
I turn into Carl's driveway to the front door where Carl was there grinning ear to ear. Immediately John gets out and run to Carl. While I get out and join the two.
"Hey big guy, I heard your about to start school!" Carl says as he picks John up
"Yeah, but the principle was really creepy and scary." John says
"Oh, those are the tough ones! How about we not make the rest of this day anymore boring?" Carl suggests to John
"Yeah! Can we go get some ice cream?" John asks
"Heck yeah we can!"
"First can I use the bathroom?" John asks
"Yes, inside is my sister and shes really nice. Just ask her to show you, Ok?"
Once John goes in the bathroom Carl looks at me and smiles before walking up to me and pulling me towards him.
"Hey" I say while tryimg to keep calm
Carl doesn't even say anything, just kiss me passionately as I wrap my arms around his neck.
"Hey - Evelyn?" Carl asks between kisses
"Hmm?" I ask
"Will you be my girlfriend?" He stops and looks at me seriously
"Yes!" I yelp before jumping on him
"Eww you guys, not in front of us!" Jenna says before picking up John and running back in the house
Carl and I both laugh before we join the two in the house.
Henry's POV
"Henry!"
I knew that voice to well, a voice to a human I regret bringing here with me everyday. You know the story "Death and the Maiden"? Well its true, in the medieval times I stopped at this maiden's home and when it was time for me to leave she wanted to come with me so I bought her here, now she wouldn't leave me alone. I don't know why I didnt kill her instead of making her a supernatural.
"Go away." I tell her before continuing to stare at my glass showing the girl.
"Who is she?"
"No one of your concern." I say highly irritated
"I don't know why you waste your time gazing at the whore, she's rather fat." The maiden said
I quickly got up from my chair and struck her across the face. "Get out!" I yell
She looks at me frightened before running away. I sit back down and continue looking at her. She started a relationship with him. Oh, what she doesn't know about him. What would she think? There are so many things she doesn't know about, yet the god himself wanted me to look after her. I honestly don't get it but I feel as if he has something up his sleeve. I snap my fingers to my home in the human realm and collect my Porsche convertible. I pull out of the garage and speed down the busy road; there was one place I wanted to go...
I park my car in a spot in front of the True Religion store before walking in to see a blonde working the cash register.
"Where's Carl?" I ask
"In the back in his office" The cashier says, confusion written all over her face.
I simply walk in without knocking to see an annoyed Carl.
"What do you want?" Carl asks as I sit on the desk
"Nothing but to let you know big man assigned me to keep an eye on her." I say while innocently playing with the tip of one of my dreads.
"Is that it?" Carl asks
"No. Also, I don't know how your going to explain yourself to her if your wings just pop out randomly, or she's in front of Jenna and she starts stressing." I say
I look at Carl's face to see it in astonishment as I walk out and into my Porsche before I drive off. Being death had ALOT of perks.
