Cuddles (Annie Leonhart x Fem Reader)

The rain drummed against the glass loudly. You shivered under the thin blankets, your air releasing in clouds in front of your face. The sudden sound of lightening made you jump slightly and you let out a muffled squeak. You patted the dampness off of your forehead.

You had just woken up from a horrific nightmare of you and your squad mates being eaten by titans. Your breathing came out in ragged gasps. It sounded deafening in the silence of the room. Another strike of lightening caused you to flinch violently.

You listened to the sound of rain thudding against the glass, whilst trying to control your breathing, when a new sound appeared. Footsteps. They padded quietly across the wooden floorboards and stopped beside your bed. You glanced up to see Annie staring down at you her eyes crinkled in sympathy.

"Annie..." You whisper softly. She holds a finger up to her lips and points to the sleeping girl next to you. You nod and Annie silently slips into bed beside you. Her arms wrap around you as you bury your head in her chest. She holds onto you tightly and you savour her warmth.

Annie's fingers run through your hair softly stroking your head. You don't flinch at the next lightening strike, you don't even notice it. Your so lost in Annie. Your breathing slows and mingles with everybody elses and you find your body rapidly warming. "Thank you.." you murmur into Annie's chest.

You're not sure what you're thanking her for. For keeping you warm. For calming you down. For being their for you. Or just for knowing. Knowing that you needed her in that moment. But whatever it was for, you were glad you had a reason to thank her.

She didn't respond but one of her hands left your head and reached under the blanket to find yours. Your fingers interlocked and she squeezed your hand softly. You felt your eyes drooping shut and you let them close letting out a soft sigh. Her comforting presence allowed you to quickly fall into a deep sleep and eventually Annie's other hand stopped moving as she fell into a comfortable sleep of her own.
