Chapter two

I hear Ma's voice.

I open my eyes and see Ma, Pa, Missy, Joseph and Max around me.

"Oh, look Josh, he's awake!"

Ma throws her arms around me. I look around and see I'm in the hospital.

A doctor walks in.

"Marshall, thank god you're awake!"

Max gives me a pat on the arm and leaves.

"What happened?"

Ma and Pa exchange looks.

The doctor sighs. "You fainted. We talked to your friend Max and he said you were looking extremely pale during first period. That you went for a drink and you fainted. "

Ma bursts out crying.

The doctor gives us a sympathetic smile. "Its alright. You fainted due to dehydration. You weren't drinking enough water. "

"See Marshall. I told you to drink water!" Cried Pa.

Joseph is shaking his head while Missy is crying too.

"When will he be able to be dismissed?" Asks Joseph.

The doctor looks at his slate. "He's ready. Just fill out the paperwork."

He hands Pa a packet and leaves.

Ma sits on the bed.

"You gave us quite a scare Marshall."

"Sorry.... How long have I been out?"

"Three hours." Response Missy.

I look at the clock on the wall and try to think of what happened. The hoe, the soda, the blury vision; the blue light!. It went straight through me!

But no one would believe me.

We're now at home. Its 9:00 p.m and I'm hungry.

Ma walks into the room and says, "Marshy what do you want to eat?"

"Spaghetti with meatballs and mozzarella!"

She smiles. "Of course you do." And she walks out.

I lay on my bed and watch TV. Suddenly my phone rings. Its a text from the hoe. It says: 'Marshmallows, ain't u coming to Franky's party?'

Stupid bitch. I ignore it and continue watching the sports network.

At about 9:30, Joseph walks into my room with my spaghetti.

"Thanks."

He smiles.

He's about to leave when I say, "Aren't you suppose to be in Ohio?"

"Nope. I heard my baby brother got sick so I had to come and check on him."

My eyes lit up. "You came all the way here to Detroit just to see me?"

He wiggles his eyebrows. "Ha no. I was visiting Ma and Pa."

I roll my eyes. He playfully smacks my arm and leaves. I eat my dinner while watching the newest episode of criminal minds ().

Around 11:34, I saw it again.

The blue light. It was glowing brightly around the pool. I got up and saw it closer.

It was in the form of a ball. What the hell is this, I thought.

Ma and pa are already in bed, and Missy went out with her boyfriend.

I got closer until I pressed my nose on the window. I thought I saw the face of a bear. One second it was there, the next, its gone.

I shrugged and went to sleep.
