You regained your consciousness and shut your eyes open, instantly grimacing from the stinging pain in your neck. The light coming from the window blinded you. You groaned quietly.

"How are you feeling, dear?" a familiar velvety voice asked from somewhere.

You turned your head, feeling a bit of relief when you saw Lady Dimitrescu sitting beside your bed.

"Pain..." was everything you could squeeze out of your lungs.

She frowned at the answer.

"I'll return shortly, please wait, dear," she stated, coming out of the room.

You drew your attention to the word "dear". She didn't call you that before. You unwillingly focused on the subsequent thoughts.

You immediately wished for her to return. You just got to see her, and she leaves the next moment? You closed your eyes and reminisced about how beautiful she is. Her aristocratic facial shape, these vibrant yellow eyes, chiseled shoulders and... well, some other assets.

Your infatuation was seemingly growing.

And the way her voice sounds. Perfectly cold yet somehow it warmed your heart every time she spoke, like some kind of sweet poison. It was especially pleasant when her voice echoed through the castle halls, sending goosebumps down your body.

Not only how it sounds, but the way she speaks. Always so sophisticated, each word as exquisite as golden ornaments on the castle's walls.

For all your life, you never imagined it is possible for you to like someone this way. You had some relationships, but no such strong and all-consuming feelings towards anyone before.

Her return brought you down on earth, although you still couldn't help but stare at her each moment it was possible without seeming awkward.

She brought a glass of water and a small jar that contained pills inside.

"Painkillers. Take a few pills, Y/N," she gave you the jar.

After you drank up three pills, she sat down near your bed again. You felt pleasant yet a bit tense. She seemed troubled.

A few seconds passed in silence before she spoke.

"Cassandra is currently in detention, she's not allowed to wander the castle in the next seven days," she started.

You were rather surprised to hear that but decided to remain silent so she would continue. Due to pain in your neck speaking was difficult anyway.

"I wasn't expecting her to misbehave in such a way. If I had been aware of that, I would not have suggested this.. training," she stated, locking her eyes on yours.

"Got it," you answered, slightly embarrassed by her eyes gazing directly into yours.

'Is this her kind of apology?' you smirked in your thoughts while losing yourself in these vibrant pools of amber.

She suddenly cleared her throat and stood up.

"I'll leave you to rest now," she stated, bending over and going out of the room.

'Well, my rest seems to be better with you near me, dear,' you sneered inside your head but cut yourself short immediately.

'Shit. I can't get a hold of my feelings. I shouldn't feel this way. God, this will be the death of me, won't it?' thoughts continued rushing.

They stopped when you heard a knock.

"Come in?"

The door opened. Bela and Daniela showed up in your room. You tensed up, nervously switching your sight from one sister to another.
