It was moving day.
Marie had just turned 18 the previous day. She got a plant from her mother, a record player from her father, and a used sock from her sister. As she was packing up her stuff from her room, she found a letter on her desk. It was from her arch nemesis. She opened it up. Inside it read: dear Marie, I heard tell that you are making a colossal as well as abhorrent error. At first I thought: she will realize the mistake she has made, but then I decided why take chances? I have made up my mind to come and oppress your life as a penniless buffoon and make you go crying back to your papa. I look forward to seeing you suffer, especially on your birthday.
Sincerely, grandmama.
Ps. don't expect any money. I don't do charity.
......................"Bye Nina!" Marie waved through the car window. As Nina sped away in her jeep Marie approached the tall building with the goofy looking paper clip staring down at her. She pushed open the glass door with a crack in it.
"Marie." Clarice stood in the doorway, tapping her toe so hard Marie thought she would dent the floor. "You're late. You should never be late for an interview, you dimwit.
"Oh, Clarice! I knew you were lonely but I had no idea you were bored enough to wait at the door for me!"
Clarice was caught by surprise. "Well uh... um... You're mom." She smirked a devious smile as if she had taken someone's shampoo and filled it with glue.
"My mom?" Laughed Marie "she's your mother too, you know."
"NEVERMIND! The point is you're late. Now, I have a very important new member I would like you too meet." She turned sharply on her Prada heel and started walking swiftly and important-like, and every so often turning around to make sure Marie was still following her. They made their way to the conference room, where clarice's fiancé sat. they sat down and waited in silent.
"Our sales consultant should be here any minute" stated Clarice, looking at her watch. Just then a knock came on the door. Clarice sprung up from her chair to open it. "sorry I'm late." said a sweet yet aggravating familiar voice. "I just lost track of time and-"
"Oh no, no problem." interrupted Clarice.
And in walked the demon. She and Marie made eye contact. It was like an old western showdown.
"Marie!" said her grandmother. "what a coincidence finding you here!"
Oh it was no coincidence. In fact, it was completely uncoincidential.
