the walk to wilburs car was only slightly tense between the two of them, though how could it not be? dream nor george was able to stop thinking about it; george had almost confessed to dream and dream wanted him to.

they all piled into wilburs car; niki in the passengers and wilbur driving, leaving george and dream to sit in the back seat together. the two of them left in their own little world, constantly catching the other glancing at the other.

until dream got tired of it.

dream
so
what were you gonna say earlier?

dream watched as george took out his phone, a nervous look taking over his previously calm expression.

george
do we have to talk about this now?

dream
id kind of like to talk about it soon, yeah.

george looked over at dream with a sympathetic look, and turned off his phone- letting it rest in his lap. his gaze being averted to the window once again.

dream let himself fall into a separated headspace, tuning out the music that played through the car speakers- nonsense lyrics and bass pumping in his chest.

why won't he just... say it.

why do i want him to so badly? it's only going to end up with me getting hurt again.

i can't let myself do this again.

dream, in a desperate attempt to convince himself, had ran himself tired from his own overthinking.

george won't hurt like scarlett did, but how could i be sure? george wouldn't cheat on me like scarlett did, i don't think.

this is a mistake.

gentle fingertips grazed along his forearm, a soft voice calling out his name in a far to comforting way.

dream slowly opened his eyes, taking in the sight of the marina and boats lodged between docks, then slowly shifting a tired look over to george who's hand still rested on dreams forearm.

"where'd wilbur and niki go?" dream asked, moving to rub his eyes. george snapped his arm back close to his own body.

"they uh- they went to set up the boats or something. i told them i'd wake you up."

"i wasn't really asleep, but okay. thanks." dream mumbled, recalling the previous texts they had sent to each other.

dream reached out for the door handle, trying to escape the tense feelings that lingered in the air.

"dream- wait. can we talk before we get out there?" george anxiously fiddled with the collar of his shirt.

"you didn't want to talk earlier, why would we talk now?" dream replied sharply, looking back over at george- a different intense look than earlier- one more angry and hurt, than filled with pure hope and- more pathetically- lust.

"well- 'cause we're alone now and i didn't want to talk about this with you through texts and i-"

"george- they're waiting for us, and i really need a wake up call and this doesn't need to be it. can we please just go and do whatever we're supposed to be so we can go home?" dream pleaded. guilt pricked at every single minuscule part of georges heart.

though he nodded, the two of them getting out of the car and walking over to wilbur and niki, who had already gotten the two boats set and ready.

the tenseness from earlier still lingered, if noticed, it went unsaid.
