Btw, this is gonna be a mostly flashbacks chapter.

"So Chase, what made you decide to follow Mallory all the way to Florida?"

Zach asks the very unusual question in the middle of our quiet dinner, and turns everyones' eyes wide and towards him.

"Zach!" my mom whisper yells.

"What I was just wondering," he defends.

"Now you know that your sister's love life isn't your concern," she explains.

"Love life?!" I question, "Mom, I'm in high school. Why are you making it sound like we have sex every night? We haven't even once!"

Now everyone's eyes turn to Chase and me, beginning to silently question our relationship.

"You have no idea how happy that makes me."

My dad breaks the silence and Linzy almost spits her milk out. She quickly recovers and starts laughing.

"You guys are so messed up. Like seriously, I have no idea what's wrong with all of you," she says, cracking up. Her unusual interest in our conversation confuses us all, yet makes us chuckle at the same time.

We finish the meal in silence, until Chase breaks the silence by saying,

"She's too beautiful of a girl to let go Zach."

He walks to put his plate in the kitchen sink, then softly plants a kiss on the top of my head while walking back to his room upstairs. I feel my cheeks heat up and tilt my head down while I try to eat the rest of my food.

I end up moving it back and forth on my plate, eventually excusing myself to go to bed.

My dad grabs my arm as I walk by him.

"Don't 'change your status' up there tonight. Remember what you really want in life."

"Dad!" I yell and slap his arm away. I quickly run to and up the stairs before anyone else can say anything else.

I find Chase standing in the hallway outside my bedroom door.

"Wanna go do something fun?" he asks, catching me by surprise.

"Was threatening someone with a knife earlier not fun enough?" I ask, walking up to him.

He takes a step closer to me and whispers in my ear,

"Something risky."

My breath catches and he knows it because he wraps an arm around my waist, pulling me to him and saying in his husky, low voice,

"Just you and me this time."

I can't help my head from nodding when he talks like that. He grabs my hand and puts a little distance between us, pulling me towards my room.

He opens the door and brings us onto my bed, again, bringing me to him.

I quickly release myself from his grasp,

"Wait, Chase, this wasn't what I meant."

"It's not what I meant either. You're laying here with me for a few minutes then grabbing a jacket and we're going out."

He searches my face for a response.

"Unless you wanted to do something else," he adds, disappointment slightly showing through in his eyes. I quickly shake my head.

"No, let's go. I mean, let's do what you said."

He smiles and grabs my waist, pulling me back towards him. He nuzzles his face into my neck and whispers,
