Then he sees me.
"Oh my...Mallory?!" he says, smiling as if I were an old friend. He starts walking towards me, reaching for a hug, but I squeeze Chase's arm, indicating I want nothing to do with Ky.
So Chase steps forward and says, "She doesn't want anything to do with you. All we came here for was so I could get you off her car before God knows what happened on it between you two."
A look of confusion appears on Ky's face and then he says, "You don't know what Mallory wants. We need to get caught up over supper. Right Mallory?" He looks over at me, as I now stand next to Chase, surprisingly with confidence flowing through me.
"You heard Chase. I want you to leave me and my boyfriend alone. Now please, go away," I say, my voice not breaking once, making me proud.
By now, the girl he was kissing is sitting on a little fence dividing the parking lot and "socializing area." She files her nails and looks me up and down, scowling when she sees that I was what disturbed their make out session.
"What did I do to you Mallory? Why won't you do anything with me?" Ky asks softly.
"Don't you remember what happened right before we left? You left me broken hearted on the long flight home. I don't ever want to do anything with you," I say harshly, grabbing my keys and handing them to Chase, then I walk around to the passenger door and sit down inside.
Chase sits down shortly after I do, and that's when I see Ky start to walk away, but not before yelling, "This isn't the last time you'll see me Mallory! This is just the beginning!" Then he walks off, and evil-looking smirk on his face.
Once he's gone, I burst into tears. Chase pulls me to him and I stuff my face in his chest. I start sobbing louder, so he starts rubbing circles on my back saying, "Shh, he's not going to hurt you. I'll never let him come near you again. Ok? But first, you gotta stop crying."
I eventually the tears quit coming out and he pulls back from me to look at my face. "Now look at what he did to you," he says and flips down the little mirror in front of me.
My makeup ran down my face, and I look like I have raccoon eyes. I sigh and open the glove compartment to see my emergency makeup kit. I pull it out and quickly fix my face.
After double checking that I look like I did before, I put the kit back and turn to Chase.
"Beautiful, as always," he says with a smile.
"Amazing, as always," I say to him smiling back.
"Cheesy, as always," another voice says from outside the car.
We both jump and look to the driver's side window and see Grace standing there with a disgusted look on her face.
"Nosy, as always," Chase says getting out of the car.
We all start laughing and I get out too.
"Now if I didn't just hear that conversation, I'd say you two were just friends, however your parents dropped me off a little farther down there," Grace says pointing to about five cars down, "and from the group of girls I walked past, I think you two are officially a couple, considering I know both of you aren't the type of people to randomly make out with people they are 'just friends' with."
She looks back and forth between us and finally after a few moments of silence says, "Are you two an item or what?!"
I turn and look to Chase and say, "I don't know. Are we?"
He smiles and without looking away from me he says, "Grace, could you give Mallory and me just a few minutes of privacy?"
"Uhm, yes! But don't do anything, I mean, use protection!" she yells, running into the crowd.
