Chapter 17: The Prisoners

I rested my back at my hard sit. Malalim na inaalala ang lahat na mga pangyayari. We're inside a huge office right now, and it looked like a court room. It's 2:00 in the morning as well and we've been here, summoned right after the incident.
Parang ramdam na ramdam kong may nagawa talaga kaming napakalaking crimen dito, ready to be put in prison. And yes indeed. It is a major crime for them.
My senses shot back right through me as I heard the increasing voice of miss Cassidy.
"I do not tolerate a traitor! We must kick him out for good and never allow him to hold any position ever again." sigaw niya at sumang-ayon naman ang mga kasamahan nila na nakaupo sa right side naming mga nagtangkang tumakas. It felt as though we were really being judged in a vast courtroom.
I saw Miles got tensed on my side vision and also the rest of us. Malalim na napabuntong hininga ang matandang lalaki sa unahan namin, the commander, who felt like the ultimate judge, faced all of us. He appeared incredibly serious, yet undeniably calm.
"And who might this traitor be?" nakatingin siya sa'ming napakaseryoso at ngayo'y may pagbatikus! Nuway napatayo si Miles at napabuntong hininga.
"It is I, Mister Dawn." malalim at seryosong sabi nito. Pero ni isang maliit na kaba ay hindi mo makikita sa kanya. I don't know how he stayed so calm even in an intense situations like this. It was clear Miles know how to handle things.
"Where did you get the key?" tanong muli nito sa kanya at nabalot na naman kami ng katahimikan
"I entrusted him the key Mister Dawn." biglang sambit ni Silver sa kalayuan. Napahinga nang malalim si Mister Dawn bago tumingin muli kay Miles.
"You've done such a wrong decision child. I can't believe that in your first time na makapatong sa rank, magagawa mo na kaagad ito. You've plan a damn thing! Thinking you'll succeed? Oh my boy! How many times do we have to explain this to you? You can never escape this place!" umiling-iling na hindi makapaniwalang sabi nito sa kay Miles.
I began to feel uneasy. Hindi niya pwedeng akuhin na lamang lahat nang ito. This is so unfair for him! I am the one who started the whole thing.
"Therefore, I demand him to be punished for even dragging others!" sigaw na naman ni Miss Cassidy kaya bigla na akong napatayo! They immediately looked at me because of the attention I've just made. It had me a moment before saying a word.
"I'm the one who should be punished." deretsong sabi ko na ikinagulat nilang lahat. Nakita kong naningkit ang mga mata ni Miss Cassidy. "I started everything," pag-uulit ko.
"So it was all you..." she stated with her eyes in rage. Napatingin ako sa sahig at napakuyom ng kamao.
"Yes, everything began with my idea." I finally told them looking at her seriously.
"You daughter of a—"
"All of them must be punished hindi lang sa kung sino ang nanguna, silang lahat ay nagtangkang tumakas kaya ni isa ay walang dapat na maiwan." I swallowed hard at the upcoming statement of Miss Ideth, although I was having this idea in my mind that I couldn't stop myself from asking.
Why? Why?
"Why must we be punished for wanting freedom..." in the end, my thoughts came out of my mouth as I look at them fiercely.
I saw the managers of the building, the head assistants, secretaries, stopped moving.
"Pardon?" di makapaniwalang sabi ng isa sa kanila. Nawa'y may sakrastikong ngiting dala.
