Chapter 26: Their Story

I placed the small candle on the mini cake I got for him on the table of his room. I stared at him before giving him a small smile.
"Make a wish," Revlis paused before doing so. I stared at him again having a glum feeling, alam ang katotohanang nasa isip niya'y gusto lang naman umuwi.
"I'm sorry, iyan lang 'yung mabibigay ko sayo. And you probably knew where I got that cake already," he smiled and nodded.
I sighed,
Where else but in the cafeteria where the food is free...
I messed his hair and pinched his nose. "At least it's free, if you wanted to eat more you could just go there anytime." I eased the sad atmosphere at napatawa siya.
"I'm 12 now, I can understand the situation." napatawa ako at ginulo bigla 'yung buhok niya.
"I always knew you're such a smart kid," he laughed again. Napapatawa na rin ako kasabay sa kanya.
"Thank you... For celebrating my birthday with me." I smiled at his statement.
"You're welcome."
Nagpasiya na akong buksan ang pinto dahil tinawag na ako ng nagbabantay sa kanya. Napalingon ako muli.
"Talk to me anytime, and whenever you need me." tumango siya sa sinabi ko at ngumiti. I smiled in return before deciding to close the door, ready for my leave.
Napatingin ako sa babae na nasa harapan ko. "Please take care of him well." sabi ko, she just smiled bitterly.
"I wanted to miss... But I can't. He already turned 12. For the next 2 months hindi ko na siya pwedeng bantayan. He must be... Responsible on his own." napabuntong hininga ako bago napapikit ng mga mata.
I knew there's nothing I could possibly do about it.
"I understand," I said to her and just decided to leave.
While walking, nakita ko lamang sina Silver at Lucia na nag-uusap habang sa lumakad din sa di kalayuan.
I don't know why, but I feel unease. I also hid myself inside my hood when I saw Sky, pretended to tie my shoelaces.
I want nobody to disturb me. I just really needed some time to be alone...
For a bit of a moment, I successfully made it to my room in peace, closed my door gently and threw myself on my bed, yet finally when the afternoon came, same cycle. Maya-maya ay magtetraining na naman ako samantalang magpapractice na naman 'yung second group of girls sa fashion walk.
I sighed. My mind isn't tired but my body is. I just decided to put on a 10 minute timer on my watch for a small comfortable nap,
Just 10 minutes. I don't want to be scolded for being late like yesterday again.

A day had passed and I visited Revlis for a moment before doing the practices in the morning, and trainings in the afternoon as usual. It was very bustling but I'm getting pretty good at it.
A sudden knock on my door made me feel alerted. Tumayo agad ako at nagtanong. "Sino ang nandiyan?"
"Zami!" the girls shrieked. Tila nagbigla naman ako dahil nabuksan nila 'yung pinto! Dang it, hindi ko pala na lock.
I scolded myself yet I was so stunned when I saw the eight of them. What on earth? May dala pang mga pagkain!
Pagkapasok ay nabigla ako noong dumeretso kaagad sina Miles at Trace sa kama ko at humiga, 'yung tipong sila ba 'yung may-ari ng kwarto?
