Rique
"Woah, Mattie," I can't help but croon to the little male when he clumsily trips over his own two feet. I catch him and prop him back up quickly. My luna's twin brother is fucking cute as fuck.
"Sorry," the tips of his ears turn red. His pretty eyes, same as his sister, look down, embarrassed.
"Mattie, can you come with us to the Lake this weekend?" Cassie bounces over and trips over the same nothing her brother did. We both catch her. Scowling, I glare at the sidewalk. I see nothing that would be a hazard. Maybe they both need new shoes?
"This is your apartment?" Cassie is already heading towards the doors, tripping hazard forgotten.
"Cassie," I call out patiently. "Wait for Luis to inspect it first, ey?"
Cassie smiles and bounces back to us. My wolf watches her feet, tense, but she doesn't trip this time.
"Thank you for driving us," Mattie blurts out.
"Sí," I reply absently, patting him gently on the back. He is most likely my alpha's mate, too. I can't fucking wait until Carmichael comes back home and meets him.
"Todo está bien," Luis comes back out of the building. His eyes are hard when he sees Cassie standing with her brother.
"It's all good," I tell the twins. They both smile and thank Luis despite his piss-poor attitude, before bounding into the building with their hands clasped together.
I whip out my phone. "Carmichael..."
"My luna is safe?" he interrupts my greeting.
I roll my eyes to the sky. He isn't here to see it or I would have sore ribs tomorrow, but the male can't stop talking about our luna. Yet, he stubbornly refuses to admit he's hopelessly in love.
"She is with her brother."
"You taught that pendejo gaurding him a lesson in protection, si?" Carmichael snaps out.
I scowl. "Sí. But we have difficulties. ClearHowl culeros think theirs can protect our luna better than LoboGris."
"You sent Luis to protect Cassidy's brother?" Carmichael muses. "Fuck ClearHowl and what they think."
"Luis..." I mutter the male's name, frowning at him as he fidgets uncomfortably. My luna's twin brother is also an omega and Luis isn't necessarily the best choice. "Mattie is omega, Carm," I remind him. Sometimes my alpha needs his beast to be poked. "Jose would be better. Gentler, no?" Luis's shoulders slump.
Carmichael makes a sound of half-hearted derision. "I have wolves to spare to protect omegas, now, ey?" he snarls a bit. Jose is more important in the pack than Luis is. I stay silent, letting him fume and work through his own bullshit. "Send Luis and Jose. Luis doesn't speak to him, sí?"
"Sí, Alpha." I don't hide my rabid grin from Luis.
"You are clearing the gym for Cassidy to exercise?" he asks. "I don't want pendejos staring at my female."
"It's done."
"I'm returning in a week," Carmichael sounds frustrated. He wants his mate... or mates. My wolf is leaning towards Carmichael having a twin mating. He shakes out his fur, still excited. The little male is cute.
"Luna will be pleased to hear it."
Carmichael grunts and hangs up. He's probably calling Cassidy now. A text comes in and I smile when I see it's from Miranda. She wanted to come with us this morning, but changed her mind after getting a phone call from her mother. I could see the stress in her eyes and hated leaving her, but I don't trust just anyone to drive Cassie anywhere especially with Carm gone.
