A/N - Just a note: Miranda's last name has changed to DeVitoria. It's fancier.
Rique
Mom.
I stare at the name on Miranda's phone's screen. My female, already pale and shaky, looks even sicker as she slowly moves her thumb over the answer button.
A second later, her thumb shifts, and she rejects the call. "Oh, gods," she huffs out. "Mom is going to kill me, Rique."
I cup her cheeks and kiss her mouth in comfort. "No, Corazon. We will make it right," I promise. It's a promise I intend to keep, but hell if I know how.
How do I make sure that the three of us stay together and live happily ever after? Can we stay together against Miranda's coven?
I eye Nico, standing at the end of the bed, glaring off into space. What the fuck does Carm's hermanito have to do with us? Miranda nuzzles my cheek. "Babes, let's go back."
I turn my head back to Miranda with a smile. "Sí, Bella." I help her to her feet and wrap the sheet around her nude body. She's still tired, but Carmichael only gave me an hour before I had to get back to the casa.
I help Miranda pull on a dress that one of the other females brought from Caluna. She runs her fingers through her hair and goes into the bathroom to splash her face. When she saunters back out, I take a moment to appreciate how gorgeous she is. And... how expensive she looks. I'd bet the dress is cheaper than anything Miranda DiVitoria has worn in her life. She's barefoot and sans makeup but, damn, she still looks like a million bucks.
Luis lets out a low whistle as Miranda reaches us and yawns into her hand. I wink at mi hermano over her head while turning us to leave.
"Rique, I need to talk to you," Luis says quietly.
"Say it in front of Miranda," I reply as we all climb into Roberto's truck. Nico doesn't say a word but gives the three of us privacy when he jumps in the cab and settles in.
"Miranda told me that her coven would arrange her marriages, sí?" Luis blurts out.
My wolf snarls, snapping his sharp canines at Luis. My brother doesn't flinch. "We are her males," I warn him. I swipe the back of my hand across my mouth, cleaning away the angry froth bubbling up from my gut.
Miranda tucks her hand under my arm. "My mom covered for me," she explains quietly. "Mom has two men, anyway. A lot of witches are polyamorous. I told you that, already. But... with my sex magic..."
"More males equals more cum. I passed Algebra," I snap.
"The second time," Miranda mumbles. Luis snickers, but at my growl, they both fall silent.
Heaving a sigh, I shove my wolf back. "Perdón. I'm frustrated, but not with you." I shift as I pull into the yard of the alpha's casa. The smoke is still rising from the pile of burning bodies. It reeks of barbeque and blood. The hacienda's windows are all open and, ironically, it holds more life today than I've ever seen it. Alpha kept us from his home, and now we know it's because he had his secret family and omega mate hidden in the fucking attic. Today, our LoboGris and ClearHowl wolves are stomping all over Alpha's precious home without any regard to the male. It's a beautiful house, the best in Lobo by far, but to my eyes, it's just a prison.
"What's wrong, then?" Luis asks me.
I shove away the ill feeling I get when I stare at the hacienda and its open windows... with not a single one to the attic... I shut the engine off. "What's the limit? How many males?"
