Shane's POV
Once Ryan parked the car outside the girls' house I was ready to hop out and run in. You could see some movement from the windows.
Both Cal and Es came out of the house and with snacks. They saw our car and stopped walking. I smirked and we got out the car.
"Well are you two ladies going to just stand there or what?"
I saw Cal running towards me and I got ready to pick her up. When I did she squealed when I spun her around. I noticed the other guys smirking but I ignored them. They know I've had a crush on her since forever. I saw Es coming towards us and I pulled her in for a hug. To which she returned. Cal said hi to the others then turned to me.
"What's up girls?"
"Dude what the freak!? I thought you weren't going to get here until like tomorrow!"
"We decided to get a headstart. Anyways I know you know the guys but I'm not sure Es does. Esmi these are my boys. In case you forgot this is Ryan, Jace and Aiden. I'm Shane you know in case you forgot."
Callie giggled and we all turned to her in confusion. Well me Ryan and Jace did. Aiden and Es were just looking at each other. He didn't shut up the entire ride and when he finally sees Es he's quiet.
Anyways since when does Callie giggle? She either scoffs or laughs. Which in this case she would have laughed. But she giggled. It was cute though. Even though she's never done it. Not even when we were kids. I guess I'm not the only one who noticed because Ryan spoke.
"Damn Cal California has changed you."
"What do you mean?"
"Well you giggled. The Callie chick I know doesn't."
Es and Cal exchanged worried glances but didn't say anything. We walked towards their porch and sat down enjoying the night. You can actually hear the waves as if they were just in the back yard. Again Ryan voiced my thoughts.
"Yo, you guys got the ocean in your backyard or what?"
"Yeah."
"Guys we need to go surfing."
We all nodded in agreement. I sat down next to Callie on the swing and she scooted closer to me. I smiled and put an arm around her. Her eyes were bright under the moonlight. I'm such a poet. I moved her bangs out of her face and she smiled. Her head was placed on my shoulder so thank god she couldn't hear my heart race.
I noticed Aiden and Es sitting with their backs toward the edge of the house. They were talking and lightly laughing. I guess being here will give him a shot. That's if she isn't taken. Or Callie for that matter.
Jace and Ryan were all wrapped up under each others arms. Jace had his head in Ryan's lap and Ryan was mindlessly playing with Jace's hair. Okay?
I looked at Callie and her eyes were close. She looked cute. Very calm and peaceful. And that's a rare sighting of her. I've known this girl my whole life and not once have I been able to tell her how I feel. I know we had a thing but she thought it might end out friendship so we broke it off. Now I have the chance to tell her.
I mean what wouldn't I like about her. Guys have only seen her by her looks. Yeah she's beautiful but there's more to her than that. Even though she's sassy and sarcastic and has a strong attitude she's got a great personality once you get to know her.
Even though she puts up her tough act, she's got a big heart. Always there when you need her. But she doesn't like to show her other side. According to her she doesn't want to be seen weak. But she's not.
"What are you thinking about?"
I looked down at Callie and she was looking at me in curiosity. The others were looking at me too.
"We've been trying to get you to talk but you were off in space. I think you had hearts in your eyes."
I glared at Ryan and he smirked. Jace was sitting up and looking at Ryan. I shrugged it off and looked at Callie. She was still looking at me in confusion.
"What's up Shane? I know that look. You were deep in thought. What was it?"
I took a deep breath, "can I talk to you for a sec?"
"Sure. We can go out back if you want."
I nodded. The father the better. We got off the swing and made our way to the back. I ignored everyones stares and Ryan's smirk. He better be smirking about Jace.
I grabbed Callie's arm and spun her around. Her back hit the tree and she looked at me in confusion. I looked up at the sky because I know I would get lost in her eyes and not say what needs to be said. I felt an arm on my shoulder and looked down.
"Shane what's wrong?"
I took a deep breath. "Callie there's um there's something I need to tell you."
She nodded for me to go on. I don't know why I'm so nervous. We had a thing once. I've kissed her before. I don't know why now I'm to scared to tell her. I grabbed her waist and pulled her closer. She placed her hands in my chest and looked into my hazel green eyes.
"Shane."
"Callie. There's something that you should know. And its taken me a while to say it."
"Okay. What is it?"
God this girl is so clueless. She's very oblivious yet she's one of the biggest flirts I know. But she obviously has her limits.
"Callie I lo-"
"Yo! Back off my girl!"
Callie POV
I don't understand why but when I saw Shane I felt complete. You know because he's my best friend and all. With him here it felt like home. Even though he was only here for the summer.
I was sitting on the swing with Shane next to me when I looked up and saw he was deep in thought.
"What are you thinking about?"
He looked down at me while I was looking at him with curiosity. The others were looking at him too.
"We've been trying to get you to talk but you were off in space. I think you had hearts in your eyes."
He glared at Ryan and he smirked. Jace was sitting up and looking at Ryan. I was still looking at Shane confused about everything.
"What's up Shane? I know that look. You were deep in thought. What was it?"
"Can I talk to you for a sec?"
"Sure. We can go out back if you want."
He nodded and we got off the swing and made our way to the back.
Once in the back he grabbed my arm and spun me around. My back hitting a tree in the process. He looked up at the sky for a few seconds until I put my arm on his shoulder and made him look down.
"Shane what's wrong?"
"Callie there's um there's something I need to tell you."
This is the first time I've seen Shane look soo nervous. Then I felt him grab my waist and pull me closer to him.
"Shane."
"Callie. There's something that you should know. And its taken me a while to say it."
"Okay. What is it?"
"Callie I lo-" he was interrupted by Wesley.
"Yo! Back off my girl!"
What was he going to say?
