"Where are my manners." I hold out my hand. "Lucía. Lucía Patel." I use my mom's maiden name.

"THERE'S MY PONG PARTERRRR! Come take a swim with me." Jason yells from the roof above us.

People start pooling outside moving the party outdoors.

"Fucking hell, I told him to ease up tonight." Oliver groans as he rubs his face furiously.

"I'm not swimming with you Rai!" Oliver yells back.

"I'M NOT TALKING TO YOU POOL BOY." He yells back.

"I'm pretty sure he is talking to me as he did announce me as his new beer pong partner." I let out a laugh.

"Hold your horses Rai." I yell up at him as I enter back into the house looking for a way onto the roof. I enter one of the rooms upstairs and open its window, it leads right onto the roof. Perfect.

I hop onto the roof and walk towards Jason.

"Couldn't let you jump all by your lonesome, now could I?" I smile.

He turns around and shakes his head. "You know you don't have to keep trying to impress me Lucía. Your charm has already worked on me." He teases me.

"Oh, shut up." I roll my eyes, a smile playing on my lips.

I walk to the edge of the roof and look down into the pool.

"Well let's hope we don't slip and die. I was excited to have finally made a friend." I say still looking down.

"That's if you want to be my friend?" I say looking up at him.

"Uh, I don't know. You seem pretty unhinged." He looks at me very seriously.

I glare a him and then we both start laughing.

"Oh my god of course I will. I would be honoured to be your very first friend at Killarney, home to Barney."

"You did not just say Barney?" I look at him with wide eyes.

"YEP, we petitioned to change our mascot last year. Best decision ever! We got the WHOLE school to sign and the school board couldn't refute, so here we are. The Barneys."

"That's the coolest fucking shit I've ever heard."

"MHM. You should see Barney at our home games on the ice. Oh, I play hockey by the way. So does Ollie, the guy you were talking to." He smirks. "Anyways, the kid who plays Barney doesn't know how to skate and it's the best thing ever. Really gives me a good laugh before the game and during the periods. DUDE, YOU HAVE TO COME TO OUR GAME. We are playing in two weeks after school."

"Oh, um-." I say trying to rack my brain for an excuse but thankfully someone interrupts me.

"Are you guys jumping or what?!" Someone from the crowd that has gathered yells.

"FUCK OFF JANETTE. I DON'T SEE YOU UP HERE" Jason yells back. "Sorry that's my ex Janette, she's fucking crazy." He says to me.

"OH, GO SUCK A DICK JASON. YOU KNOW I DON'T LIKE HEIGHTS!" Janette screeches back.
