Kira's POV

Kelsey caught up with me before lunch ended. Half an hour after Oliver had left in a rush.

I had seen him and his friends come in to the cafeteria to get food and sit down while I ate my lunch.

I watched him regard Lana Petrova with care and then concern when she left their table.

Hm, I didn't know they were close.

I considered that information for a bit. I hadn't seen him interact with her much, mostly because she's always hiding in the newsroom.

Lana is in my English class this semester. She is always getting the top marks in our class. She isn't loud or obnoxious but she is perceptive.

She's always watching when you're not looking and that makes her risky.

You would think she's a demure, gentle girl, which she most definitely is but there is a hard edge to her that she covers up very well.

Why have I noticed Lana so much, you ask?

Not only because Oliver seems comfortable with her but because she is also Theo's ex girlfriend. We had never met but I don't doubt for a second she knows who Kira Townes is (I'm very presumptuous for thinking that). I on the other hand hope she doesn't know who Lucia Patel is.

When Oliver finally looked over at me I felt exposed. Like I was doing something wrong.

I didn't look away mostly because I was too deep into thought. Normally I would be embarrassed, but something about Oliver makes me feel more confident.

I wanted him back as soon as he left the cafeteria.

Their lunch table was full of concerned whispers when he left. Only Jason the normally talkative one was quiet.

He knows why Oliver left, I conclude.

When the lunch bell finally rang,  Kelsey bombarded me at the doors.

"Lucia! I haven't seen you since the game last Friday! How was your weekend?" She asked.

Truthfully, I did what I normally do, see my dad, clean the house, help my mom, read. Think about Oliver here and there. What would have happened if my mom didn't come into my room on Friday?

"Nothing much. What about you?" I ask back.

"Oh, you know the usual." She says vaguely.

I haven't seen Kelsey since I broke down into her arms at the game. I don't regret anything but also don't want to tell Kelsey anything more. It feels unfair to the others who don't even know anything. I do feel better knowing that we are on the same page and that I will tell her when I'm ready. That is until she decides enough is enough and at any moment Kelsey can continue to question me further.

"You should start sitting with us at the table over there." She points to the table where her and her friends were. Where Oliver was. "You're our friend now so remember you always have a spot over there."

I smile at Kelsey. She's always been so welcoming and I'm grateful for that, being at a new school and everything.

"Thanks Kels. I was just getting used to the smell of the garbage can in the corner." I wave to where I was sitting.

She laughs as we walk out of the cafeteria.

"Are you going to the game tonight?" She asks me.

"Oh, um, I'm not sure. I didn't even know there was one tonight. Are you?" I ask back.

"Unfortunately not. Sadly, I have to help my grandpa with some of his company stuff. Normally he would get someone else to do it, but there was an incident at the company and he's getting family to handle everything." She saying sigh, as if she's irritated. "But you should totally go! They are versing Mountainview. They are our rivals. I can't believe I'm missing this game." She pouts as I go cold.
