Chapter five: Oreo crumbs.

Baby A.J and Alex on the side <3

Dedicated to Jasemean16 for guessing part of A.J's name correctly! (Sorry I don't know how to work the new layout of wattpad yet)

The chapter name will not make sense because I didn't add A.J's full name on yet. Sorry guys :( I thought I could work it in this chapter but I can't. Anyway thank you so much for helping me reach 59 in the short story section. I love you guys! xx and thanks for being so patient with me. I will be updating more regularly (hopefully!) This chapter was supposed to be longer but I just wanted to get something out there before you guys got bored.

I finally walked into the house, my eyes were red and puffy and my throat felt raw and sore. I pad through, silently. Everyone seemed to have retired to their rooms, which was good.

Wrapping my arms around my waist self consciously, I slink up the staircase, but one of the steps creaked under my weight. I let out a colourful swear word and pray Alex didn't hear but it seemed that my prayers weren't going to be answered because a second later Alex's door swings open and bright light floods through the darkened hallway. I wince at the bright intrusion and use my hand to shield my eyes.

"Hey, Lia. How was your-." He trails off as he catches sight of my appearance. I give him a tired smile.

"It was good." I lie, guessing how he might have finished that sentence. My voice comes out all strangled and scratchy from the crying. He's by my side in a flash, grabbing my arms gently.

"What happened?" He asks in a stern tone with a mask of seriousness but his brown eyes are gentle as they probe my own brown ones. I shrug his arms off, gently.

"Are you okay- Hey, wait. Are you wearing Asher's football hoodie?" Alex's frowns in confusion. I will my blood to not rush to my cheeks from his questions. One shoulder goes up in a half hearted shrug.

"Ah...y-yeah, he lent to me after I crashed into someone and spilt my drink all over myself. You know me, klutzy as always." There was a tiny bit of truth in that statement. I was very accident prone at times. Alex looks a bit hesitant at whether to believe or not and I hold my breath, waiting for him to call me out on my lie but it never comes.

"Okay..." He drags out. "I'm choosing to let it slide this time, Lia because I trust that whatever is going on you are handling it, but I know you've been crying and if you come home in this state again I won't let it slide as easily. I will want names and then I will deal with them." Alex states firmly, leaving no room for argument. The only option I have is to nod.

I embrace Alex in a warm hug and kiss him on the cheek before closing the distance between my room and I, shutting the door softly behind me. I just want to sink into my bed and fall into a dark oblivion but I force myself into the shower, peeling Asher's hoodie away from my sticky body.

The scalding hot water makes me feel better instantly, my skin turning an angry red as it cascades over my body and down the drain like the amount of emotions I felt today. It left me exhausted and empty. I decide to get out when my fingers start resembling dried prunes. Slipping on my comfiest, most softest pair of pyjamas. I hit the bed and as soon I am under the covers, I'm out like a light. The last moment my father and I spent together, haunt me and I toss and turn, restlessly. I feel hot and cold flushes as I sleep. My body is coated in a light sheen of sweat.
