Be ready to play the song I linked when I tell you to.

*Cassandra's POV*

In the days that followed, it seemed like nothing had happened. Because, in my twisted mind, nothing really had happened: after all, I was freeing myself from the burden of morality and embracing total chaos of thoughts.

As humans, we aren't all good or bad- we are shades of grey. We change, we grow, we transition, and there's nothing we can do but accept that.

Meanwhile, I started spending a ridiculous amount of time at the beach. Whether it was the smell of the salty water or the rhythmic lapping of waves upon the shore; nothing felt as reassuring as the ocean.

Not seldom, I sat down book in hand and read without a break. However, I was certain Rafe still followed me from time to time: again, It seemed like he was able to materialize whenever I looked for him.

'Hello, darling.' Said someone when I had my nose on the book. I turned around, and I saw him.

'Hi, Cameron.' I responded quickly.

'What is it that you're reading?' The young man said as he approached me.

'I'm reading The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath,' I told him, 'Do you know it?'

'I do,' He said as he brought his hand to his mouth, 'That's a good book.'

'Couldn't stay away from me, Cameron?' I asked him jokingly- even though I was not joking at all.

'What are you trying to say with this?' He played dumb.

'You know it, Rafe. You think I'm so stupid that I haven't realized that you've been following me?' I stated. 'At the park, at the beach, at the gym, and even while I was showering.'

'I bet you liked it.' He laughed.

I slapped him before he could get another word out of his mouth, and I did it so hard that I swear I thought he would've been left with my handprint on his cheek for the rest of his life.

'I really wish you didn't do that.' He frightened me tying his hand around my neck.

He was beyond furious.

'Don't. Ever. Threaten. Me. Again,' I said as I pulled my dagger out of my pockets. 'Or you'll soon realize that I can be just as crazy as you are when I want to. The difference between the two of us, is that I can control it and you can't.' I added.

'You think I am scared of you?' He giggled while towering over me. 'Besides, keep that pretty mouth of yours shut regarding that man. If anything comes up, I'll know it was you. Remember: no one knows, but you!' He shouted.

'I won't tell anyone, okay? But stop playing your fucking games with me!'

'I just like to make sure I'm in charge.' He claimed as he disappeared into the bushes.

I breathed a sigh of relief when he let me go. At the same time, I don't know whether I was sick in the head or not, but I couldn't help but think how handsome he was; even when his hand tightened around my neck. Like when you know something is dangerous, yet you can never get enough of it.

I had spent the rest of the day out and about when I decided to go home. I felt emotionally and physically drained from our previous encounter and I just wanted to relax.

(For a better overall experience, I'd recommend playing the song now;).

While sitting on the sofa, I realized someone had texted me. It was Rafe. I let out a muffled scream and felt the sudden urge to throw my phone across the room.

I just left him on read.

It was pouring with rain outside. I could hear the raindrops falling on the glass, each with its own specific sound; coming together as if to form a cadenced melody.

Someone had now rung the bell and knocked on my door six times when I decided to open it.

And to my great surprise, here he was.

He was holding a bouquet of pink and red roses and a box of macarons in his other hand. I have no idea how he knew I loved those things, but I believe he figured it out from some Instagram photos I had posted a while ago.

'Let me apologize.' He uttered.

I let him in; somewhat reluctantly.

He then handed me a card. It said:

I am terribly sorry for the way I have treated you in the past few days. Hoping that you'll manage to forgive me, I'm asking you to start over.

Even though nothing will ever be the same after what you have seen, I'd love to spend time with you and get to know you better. What do you think?

Do not disappoint me,

R.C.

The roses gave off a fragrant and vaguely sensual smell, but the moment I took them to my nose to smell them, Rafe grabbed my face with both of his hands and brought it closer to his.

He then dragged me out in the rain, raindrops falling over our heads, to kiss me: our mouths had now joined for the first time in an incessant and sybaritic dance filled with lust and pleasure.

I don't know how that happened but I found myself on my bed in no time. He then came on top of me, with his hands on the sides of my body to support himself.

'So this is a new little toy of yours, uh?' He asked me, taking the dagger from the bedside table in his hand.

He had now started tracing my body with its blade: starting from my neck, then to my breasts, then reaching my inner thigh.

I had never felt so scared yet so aroused in my whole life.

'Don't let it stop, please.' I pleaded.

'If this is what you really want, sweetheart,' he whispered in my ear, 'Then you'll have to beg for it.' He spat as he walked out the door with the biggest smirk on his face.
