/ chapter 2 /

At this point she had no idea where to look. Feeling many eyes penetrate her every being made her nervous. Scared, even.

She wasn't going to go through the plans and had profusely refused last minute in fear of her life taking a turn. She didn't expect there to be so many people at the funeral. Thus, this had made Akito scowl and react the way he did. With force.

She didn't know why Akito chose to expose the secret now. After all, he was the one who had planted the idea in her parents in the first place. So why now? What were his plans? She knew part of it was to humiliate her in front of many people, but she still didn't understand him. Most of them weren't going to remember in the next 24 hours. He was going to have someone erase their memories.

Still, the feeling was unreal to her. She felt like an animal in a zoo and her heart began to race. Her body started to shake as she glanced around the area, finding somewhere to look. It overwhelmed her, there was just too many people. Right then and there she just wanted to disappear. Was this just another way for Akito to torture her?

"Two dragons in the zodiac. Except she's nothing but a defected product. All she does is kill. She's nothing like my Hatori!" He spat.

She squeezed her eyes shut and mentally begged for him to stop. She didn't want to hear anymore. Out of all the times he has tortured her, this was by far the worst. She peered open her eyes and glanced at her parents, hoping they would say something like that had before. But they had stopped struggling against the guards and gave up quickly. They gave her one look and looked away.

They chose their reputation over her, she concluded. Like they always did. She dropped her shoulders in defeat.

Pushing Akito away with all her might, she made a run for it. Sprinting away as fast her legs could carry her. Droplets of tears escaped her eyes. Her secret was out in the world and her parents were ashamed of being her parents. Her brother was dead because of her and Akito had humiliated her in front of everyone. She didn't want to exist anymore if it was like this.

She didn't know how far she ran but she knew she needed to get away. Her breath became ragged and short and her legs ached. Eventually she stopped running and held her hand against a tree, breathing heavily before throwing up all the contents in her stomach.

She crouched down next to the tree once she calmed down and wiped her lips with the back of her hand. Her face was pale and she was sweating a cold sweat. The first few droplet of tears broke free from her eyes. She bent forward as she felt the skin on her face becoming raw. Her silent screaming, suffocating each breath as she fisted the front of her black shirt as if to protect her heart.

Ruki was gone. She had no one now.

Pitter-patter. Pitter-patter.

As she hugged her knees and cried alone, she listened to the soft sounds of the rain. It was almost as if it was whispering in the air. Puddles began plinking as the rainfall became heavier. By now, she was drenched from head to toe. The rain was cold against her skin and her cries transitioned from weeping to sniffling.

A large shadow enveloped her entire body and she looked up in surprise. Her sad navy eyes met with sharp purple orbs who gazed back at her. All was silent. For some reason, she could no longer hear the sound of the rain anymore.

Standing before her was a handsome man in a black suit. He had straight black hair with a dark blue tint and his bangs partially covered his left eye. In his hand, he held a black umbrella over the both of them.
