The words you spoke over nine months ago had resurfaced in Taehyung’s  mind recently, replaying on a loop, as did the expression you wore as you spoke them, and the tone of your voice.

“Maybe they shouldn’t have ever gone from friends to more.”

“It’s a lot to lose. It’s everything to lose.”

Those were the words she said to you as your best friends were going through their break up last year.

Anyone who knew Tae could see his interest in you, beyond your relationship as best friends. Well, everyone except for you apparently, which he blamed on your obliviousness to your own magnetism. He believed you knew he at least had a crush, as you’d have to be completely clueless to not notice. But maybe you didn’t see the depth of his feelings. Perhaps your self-doubting ways blocked you from seeing your worthiness of the love he wanted to give you, which was something Taehyung would never understand. In his eyes, you deserved the world.

Or maybe you just didn’t want him. You both would never dare talk about your feelings for one another, so Taehyung could only judge using your subtle signs and unspoken words hidden throughout conversations. He once believed the feelings were mutual, but your distrust in a relationship with him having the potential to last, along with your continued escapades with other people, were not a good indication of anything being mutual.
