Taylor ran as fast as she could with a gushing wound in her abdomen. Which meant that she barely ran at all.
She hobbled as far as her feet could take her, well aware that her assailant was on her tail and that she wouldn't be able to find any help by the time he recovered from her pepper spray attack. If she ever made it to her mother's side, she would always thank her for forcing the pepper spray down the pocket of her jeans.
But seeing her mother again did not seem likely in the current situation. Her assailant had removed the screwdriver he had used to gut her, and nothing was holding back the blood that rushed out of the hole in her body.
What dark crime was she being punished for?
She quickly dived inside an empty warehouse, hoping to hide from the attacker until help came. It was bound to come at some time, right?
Would she be alive till then?
She did not know how long a person could live for at the rate she was loosing her blood, but she knew deep down in her bones, that these were her last few hours.
He hadn't taken her phone, he didn't have a chance to do so. But it wasn't much help anyway. She couldn't find a single bar of network on her dumb phone throughout her hobble-run. She had managed to alert 911 a few minutes ago, but she wasn't able to reach anyone in her family.
With her life flashing before her eyes, she began typing on her phone after removing the lock. Even if the next person to find her did not make it in time, she wanted the world to know her last words.
She wasn't going down silently.
