The SecretBusterService status update: two hours ago

Dear students of Califur High,

As it turns out, #TommyandJerry did have something going on, except it wasn't what middle school girls were hoping for. 'Jerry' was bribing 'Tommy' to get in the good graces of Sienna Perez, Tommy's best friend. Considering how brutally Gregory Meadows was turned down by her, it's barely a surprise that Princess JJ wanted to go in with all his bases covered. And what better than kind words from Sienna's favourite lapdog.

See you later Lions,

I hated that goddamn app from the bottom of my soul.

On its latest update, I had been called a lapdog. And while there were certainly worse things that I could've been called, my mood stayed pretty sour.

Jeremy did not help.

PJJ: He's way off dw, you're totally not a pet. Simp? Maybe. But certainly not a lap dog.

Being the smart man that I was, I decided to ignore what he said entirely. I had begun to notice that he became obsessive over things that set me off. He liked getting reactions out of me.

Me: Go study.

PJJ: Aw man, you're being no fun. If I ask Sienna to ask you to text me, would that be better?

Oh, we were going down that path, huh?

Me: You don't think it would be hurtful for your girlfriend to hear that you only want to talk to her so that I would talk to you?

Me: Sounds like a recipe for a disastrous relationship.

PJJ: And suddenly he's also an expert on disastrous relationships.

Me: I grew up in house full of disastrous relationships. Nobody is more qualified than I am.

He did not reply to that and I snickered.

While Sienna openly joked about my horrible brother and my terrifically horrible father, Jeremy hadn't quite come to terms with what territory was okay and what was not.

It was a smart decision, really, considering I still harboured some resentful feelings against him, and talking about my brother with him would be the perfect dynamite to blow this cordial, friendly relationship that we had established.

PJJ: Imma go study now, bye.

His new text made me scoff loudly. He-

"What's so funny?" Daisy asked, leaning against the doorframe of my room. I wasn't sure how long she had been standing there, but apparently, she had been there just long enough.

"Nothing." I instantly answered, silently cursing myself in my head. Her eyes narrowed suspiciously, and I wondered why I was acting like it was a big deal.

I was just talking to Jeremy. It wasn't as if I was making plans on selling drugs from the pharmacy to the kids in school with a goth girl. (Daisy had caught me talking about how I had the best opportunity to do so with a girl I had gone on a date with, and she had not been impressed with our hypothetical thought experiment. Unsurprisingly, my gothic date had not been impressed with Daisy's tastes.)

Thankfully, she knew how to pick and choose her battles, and dropped this one before I entirely closed up.

"So, I actually wanted to ask you something," she muttered, barely loud enough for me to hear, even in the middle of the night as the only sound in the house came from the TV programme that my parents were watching.
