Carter and Asher continued to drive through multiple days to reach his parents place. The closer they got to their homestead the more anxious Asher got. Carter noticed the nervousness of Asher and pulled over. They only had about thirty minutes to go but Carter could see the fear in his eyes.

"What's wrong?"

"I just am scared. I am really nervous. I don't want to eat meat and I don't want you to and I don't want to see anyone be killed, not an innocent person. You know I am just scared to relive all of that again. I..I am really worried that my dream I had is going to come true. That we are going to stay here forever, that..that you will change your mind.."

Carter hesitated before he made his next move, he picked up Asher having him wrap his legs around his waist. "If you are this scared, lets turn back." He said as he held him close. "You are my family, and I protect my family. I left my parents and became my own man, and you are going to be my husband Asher. This can be something I do on my own time, when you no longer have to hide who you are. They can wait."

Asher looked up in surprise. "You would walk away from this, after the drive we just took?"

"If you told me to crash the car with me in it, I would."

Asher's eyes opened wide in surprise, he had never expected him to say something like that. "You are a crazy person."

Carter only laughed. "You are wearing a ring that belonged to a man I killed when I was like five, you really think me crashing a car with me in it is crazy? I've eaten enough people to fill a small town, killed more." Asher thought for a moment, he was right. "So what is it gonna be, are we going to see my parents and siblings, or are we turning back around and finding a hotel?"

Asher bit his lip, he didn't know what to say he had to respond but he couldn't think straight. He opened his mouth to respond when the sound of a truck stopped them both in their tracks. Carter quickly dropped Asher back to his feet and hid him behind his back trying to figure out which direction the truck was coming from as Carter spotted the truck he let out a sigh of relief, and Asher began to shake more.

"Carter. Is that your dad?"

"It is. Is this what you want Ash? I can still drive away, I won't even let him speak to me."

"No..no it..it's okay. I..I can handle it if you are with me." Asher finally replied. Carter brought Asher back in front of him as Jace brought the car to a halt, the door opened quickly and Jace raced towards them.

"Carter. Carter is that you?" Jace asked as he got to the two. Asher stepped to the side letting them have their reunion. Carter nodded and Jace quickly wrapped his arms around him, Asher watched them as Jace held his son. Asher squinted realizing that Jace was crying. He couldn't help but question the reality he was stuck in. As Jace pulled away he put his hands on both his shoulders. "Where is your wife and sister?"

Carter's jaw clenched. "Valery killed Alex, and ran away with my children. She nearly killed Asher in the process, Asher and I are engaged to be husbands. The reason we have been gone so long is because Asher was in the hospital fighting for his life, and then we had to go into hiding. Valery has images of Asher all over the news, and she has spoken in lengths about me and our family. She led police to my home, and ruined what we had. Asher has been here for me while I deal with all of it, we became a serial killer duo, I don't know if you have heard on the radio. But we are the Hero Killers."

Jace was silent for a long time, he was in shock.

It had been a little over a year and yet Jace could tell a lot had happened. He finally opened his mouth, "Alex is dead?"
