Petunia Dursley (nee Evans) will take to her deathbed the story of a 5 year old Harry James Potter working on her flower garden and coming back inside with a small snake that had three heads...

"Aunt Petunia," a voice from behind Petunia called. She had 'freak' on the tip of her tongue when she turned around and came face-to-face with a snake, with three heads, looking at her as if she was a rabbit to be eaten.

"What is it fre- I mean, boy?" Petunia asked harshly. Couldn't the good for nothing son of his dear dead sister be useful for her garden and be quiet?

"Well," Harry began, "I was doing what you told me to, Aunt Petunia, watering the flowers and pulling the weeds. But! Then I met this snake!" Harry nodded towards the closest head to him. "He says his name is Oxinos, but he said I could call him Oxinos because for some reason that's different." Harry petted the middle head's nose before continuing, "He says that I'm a 'Little Speaker'. What's that, Aunt Petunia? Oh, and can I keep him!?"

Petunia took a deep breath in.

Out.

In.

Out.

'Just great! More freakishness to the list of the freak's freakishness! What would my poor Duddykins think if he saw that- that monster and wanted one because the freak had one?! No. I won't allow it.' Petunia internally thought. She looked down at the short boy and gave him the meanest glare she could.

"No."

Harry visibly wilted a little. He really wanted this pet this time. He didn't know why. He just felt Oxinos was more special than the dog at the pet store Dudley wanted or the cat the neighbor had that Dudley chased up a tree. He wouldn't argue with Aunt Petunia though. No, that led to extra Cupboard Time. He didn't like Cupboard Time.

"Okay, Aunt Petunia. I'll go put him back- woah! Hey!" Before Harry could walk back outside and put the snake back, the snake Harry was holding began to hiss menacingly at Petunia.

"Foolish two leg! You think you can stop I, the mighty Oxinos, hatchling descendant of the mighty Aima and terror Thalassa?! Ha, don't make me laugh. I've finally found myself a worthy one to bond with. Better yet, he's a Little Speaker! I will not have you ruining this, fake flower two leg!"

During Oxinos' hissy fit (pun intended), his three heads started thrashing about, cornering Petunia's head in place. Harry was touched by his new friend defending him. Although, the way he spoke sort of confused poor Harry.

Petunia was terrified. The freak brought some freakish snake into her perfectly normal life, her perfectly normal home. How she wished to just get rid of the freak. She wouldn't have to deal with his freakishness anymore if she did. But, she remembered the thinly veiled threat hidden under the note left by Harry's freakish dropper offers. She sighed deeply to herself.

"Fine, freak. But, if I see that bloody snake do anything, and I mean anything, I will see to it that you never see that thing again!" Petunia screeched. She huffed when Harry's face lit up. He was supposed to be scared. Damn it!

"Thank you, Aunt Petunia!" Harry called as he made his way back outside, the three snake heads looking directly at her over his shoulder as he went back to finish working on his gardening chores.

"So, tell me, Little Speaker, why it is that you live with a two leg who smells of a fake flower?" Oxinos asked once the two of them were back outside. Oxinos was sunning himself on a rock a little ways away from Harry as Harry went back to weeding and watering. "She smells like a terrible two leg, ugly too. She resembles this animal I saw at this 'zoo' where I was temporarily staying once. I believe they are called 'gee-raffs'. Little Speaker, don't you agree that the two leg looked like a gee-raff?"

Harry tried to keep the chuckle from escaping him as he pictured Aunt Petunia as a giraffe. It was an amusing picture, he had to admit. "I stay here because they are my only family, Oxinos. My mum and dad died when I was a baby. They were drunk drivers is what Aunt Petunia said. I have nowhere else to go anyway. I have to stay here." Harry went back to his work after answering the three headed snake.

Oxinos looked like he was thinking, or at least as best as a snake could look like he was thinking. "Why don't you just come live with me, Little Speaker? My kind would welcome a speaker such as yourself! You speakers are always snakes with human skins."

The thought did tempt him. He could go? Be free of 'Harry Hunting' and chores? Free of 'boy' and 'freak'? Free of Cupboard Time and missed birthdays? It almost sounded too good to be true. With a small amount of hope shining through his green, green eyes, he nodded to Oxinos.

"If I go with you, I'll be safe, right? You'll still be my friend as well, right?" Harry didn't want to be too hopeful, but getting away sounded wonderful. 'I wonder if I'd make new friends...?' Harry wondered. More friends could never hurt, right? He never had friends before Oxinos. Dudley made sure of it. Who'd want to be friends with 'Freaky Harry' the person who was only good for 'Harry Hunting'?

Nobody. That's who.

But, it'd be okay now. He has a friend that'd be with him. Him having a friend was a big shock, but the fact that his friend wants to open his home up for him was heartwarming to the young boy.

Oxinos's left most head stuck its tongue out, "Of course I will still be your friend, Little Speaker! I'm not some barbaric two leg!" It was at the two leg comment that Oxinos's right most head thought opening his jaw and hissing menacingly was the best thing to do. Oxinos' middle head continued to speak about how nice the forest is and how he, a speaker, should never have been allowed to live in such a horrible two leg home. Harry smiled softly at Oxinos when he finally stopped ranting.

Oxinos' three heads all looked up to Harry, "Are you reading, Little Speaker? Ready to get away from this place?"

"Please. Take me away."

Oxinos - Acidic

Aima - Blood
