Lana
I push the door open and follow Alissa into the room, freezing at what I see.
For the first time in years, I'm terrified.
Jace steps in and goes still, his eyes trained on a girl the same age as us who looks like his twin.
My eyes dart from him to Alissa, and shock courses through me.
Her green eyes are almost round, true fear filling them as her gaze trains on the knife pressed to a boy's throat.
She looks petrified.
"What the hell is going on?" I demand, and a black clad woman laughs.
"Did you really think that we wouldn't realize what you were doing?" She asks in a cold voice.
"Just let them go." I say, and to my shock, she obliges.
The girl runs to Jace and he takes her into a hug, Alissa grabs the boy's hand and pulls him away from the woman before burying her face in his shoulder as he pulls her to him, Elle steps toward me and I shock her by pulling her into a hug as well.
"How did you know?" Alissa snarls, stepping in front of the boy.
"We have cameras everywhere." She replies smoothly.
Alissa opens her mouth to say something, but the woman cuts her off.
"They'll be joining you in the Arena."
Alissa's expression shifts from lingering fear to the familiar anger.
"Go back outside, lest we rethink letting them live." She says, and within seconds the warm air outside is shining on my face, leaving me to wonder what just happened.
