Almost criminal that I hadn't written this sooner. I've got multiple half thought out ideas and little motivation to actually write at the moment. Thanks to everyone for 4K views and all the votes, and thanks to you three in the comments on chapter two for giving me the probably unintentional nudge I needed.
It was exhilarating. The thrill of going 60 miles per hour was unbeatable, nearly. Sure Sylvie had been on similar vehicles that moved much faster, but always with a looming danger of being hunted. Still fun, but now she could really relax and take the time to just enjoy every second.
"Okay my turn to drive again." Loki said as they slowed down.
"But I nearly beat Mobius this time! Just give me one more go, I'll win this next race I'm sure." Sylvie looked over her shoulder at Loki, the determination prominent on her face.
Loki attempted to tidy his wind tossed hair, fingers catching in the knots. He gave up, it would just end up tangled again in a minute. "What difference will it make if you race now or a little later? Move over." It wasn't a command, but the way she huffed and the amount of sass she gave off as they carefully swapped places would make it seem like it was.
"Come on guys what's taking you so long?" Mobius shouted, coming up around them. He expertly looped around again, spraying more water over the already drenched pair. "At this rate you'll never keep up!"
"Don't forget that I'm an alligator in another reality. Your going down!"
"Keep dreaming, you're no match for my speed!"
"Just a moment," Sylvie said, "I don't feel like getting whipped in the face again." She untied her hair and used the elastic to tie Loki's hair into a messy bun just like hers a moment ago.
Loki winced. "Ouch! You couldn't possibly have been a little gentler?"
Sylvie secured her arms around his middle. She placed her chin on his shoulder. "I'm sorry, darling." She said, her breath tickling his ear.
"Okay around that boat on the left, then on to the jetty and back to this beach. Ready. Set. Go!" Mobius yelled. He spoke quickly, perhaps to try to catch Loki off guard.
They propelled forward with water spraying in all directions behind them. Mobius pulled ahead, by the time they were rounding the small boat he had a convincing lead. Loki came a little too close to the vessel and the fishing trio inside waved angry fists at him. Sylvie waved gleefully back. She scrambled to get her arms around Loki again as he took a sharp turn towards the wooden jetty jutting out from the far shore. Mobius shouted something at them as he zipped back past them towards the other beach, but it was lost to the rushing air around them. Loki cut the corner but there was no hope of catching up.
Mobius clapped slowly as Loki swung round to a stop next to him. "Wow. Had enough of loosing yet?" He jeered playfully.
"I'll loose as many times as it takes until I get a win." Loki declared. "We'll never give in, will we Sylvie?"
"Nope not giving in. Just going to join the winning side." She said as she kissed Loki on the cheek. She then stood up and swam across to Mobius's jet ski and settled into the seat behind him.
"Still my favourite." Mobius chuckled.
Loki mock gasped, "Traitors!"
