This story is a work of fiction and is not meant to be taken seriously. I do not condone the actions of yanderes in real life and nor should it be romanticised. This story will include obsessive/possessive behaviour gore, murder, manipulation and other disturbing themes so do not read if you are not comfortable with any of those things.

The first prince, Andrias Vespertine, never believed in such things as fortune tellers, prophecies or visions. He thought them to be foolish things that those of a lower station of his had fabricated as a means to make them content when times were rough. A ploy for money and reputation.

He believed that events happened as they happened and that there was no way to foretell the future or even change it. Everything was set in stone and there was nothing you could do to change that. Just like he believed from a young age that he would inherit the throne and become the king of Arcania.

However, if it wasn't for his fair-minded father, he would already be declared as crown prince. He disliked that side of his father, always wanting everything to be fair and trying to settle everything as peacefully and reasonably as he could. That was why he proposed the ridiculous competition just a few months ago between his brothers and himself to help him decide who he would announce as the next king.

There were a few disputes about the way King Leonard wanted to handle the inheritance of his crown from nobles on the council who were in favour of having Andrias becoming the next king, though King Leonard quickly managed to pacify the disagreements.

Andrias agreed with the noble's view. It was normal for the firstborn and legitimate son to take over their father's reign whenever it became time to do so. His brothers, who he wasn't particularly fond of, were illegitimate, which meant that they were supposed to have little to no chance of becoming king. Yet, the king decided that his brothers should be given a chance to prove themselves worthy of ruling the nation.

So there he was, sitting through a tedious meeting alongside his younger brothers discussing whether the taxes of the working class should be increased and the effect it would have on the noble's reputation.

The kingdom had recently experienced a famine due to drought so hardly any trades went through and money was needed to help the kingdom go back to how it was running before. The working class had been affected greatly as they had to scavenge for food whilst the nobles barely suffered and enjoyed their lavish meals.

Increasing taxes would surely cause the nobles favourability to drop further than it already was after the famine had passed but money was tight and the kingdom couldn't go into an economic collapse.

"As I said before, we should just increase the taxes. Why should we care what those peasants think about us? This kingdom needs all the money it can get," a Lord who Andrias remembered to be Lord Dubre. A rather greedy man who bathed in money.

"But what if they revolt against us? If other kingdoms were to hear of rebellions in our kingdom they would think of us as weak. We simply cannot have that," another Lord had opposed.

"Adonis. You haven't contributed yet. Do you have anything to say?" King Leonard addressed. Andrias glanced over to the youngest of three brothers. A bored look was seen on his face as he had his chin resting in his palm. He was playing around with a pen in his other hand, paying no attention to what was being discussed.

How foolish, Andrias thought to himself. The meetings that they were obliged to attend now was a way for the king to determine how his sons responded to issues that took place in the kingdom and how beneficial their contributions were. Adonis had barely made any contributions in all the meetings they had so far. Andrias was sure that he would rather spend his time fooling about with women than focus on the issues of the kingdom.
