17 || Sokovia

The HYDRA Research Base in Sokovia. That's where Elizabeth is being kept and that's one place where Wanda can't go back.

"Wanda, I can't ask you to do this." Elizabeth let out a sigh, "Also because I'm weak here, there are power dampeners all around this place, just not in here. I know they'd expect me to call in someone big, Natasha?"

"Well that's an insult." Natasha sat up in her chair. "I..." She started but stopped and made a confusing face, "Liz I'd do anything for you but I can't go alone. I haven't cau-"

"I'll do it." What an idiot. James sat up in his chair and faced Elizabeth.  "I'll do it. I've been training with the Wakandans and I'll be able to go alone."

"Fine. Whatever I don't have much time so-" Elizabeth gasped and closed her eyes for a moment. "Strange, they noticed."

"Alright. Go, Elizabeth. I'll get Barnes there."

Elizabeth nodded with one of those cute little smiles. "Thank you, James." She looked back at him before disappearing into the air.

Back to the first name calling.

A portal opened and on the other side was the base. The tan HYDRA owned building stood tall in front of Bucky. He looked it up and down before checking he had everything- something he should have done before he left. And of course, the soldier forgot his ear piece. He whispered a quick "Damnit." before marching forwards towards the entrance, something they wouldn't expect- for him to just walk the hell right in.

Bucky took his hand gun out and knocked on the front door- or what he thought was the front door. And of course, some dumbass answered it with a wide smile on their face that slowly faded when they realized who they were looking at- their killer.

He didn't want to kill anyone but they have his Elizabeth, honestly he didn't know where they stood but she would forever be his doll.

Bang.

A room full of workers were down within the first few seconds of Bucky's entree. He continued straight and the setting of the building shifted. The floors were grey and not wood in this hall way, the lighting was brighter, the walls were cleaner, and the doors were steel. Down the hallway there were two doors to his left, right and on and the end of the hall. It seriously looked like a hallway straight out of a horror movie.

Checking all the doors, only two were unlocked so he started for the second door to the left. Bucky opened it and all that was in the room was a bunch of filing cabinets. But he didn't care about fucking filing cabinets, so he moved back into the hallway and went through the unlocked door straight down the hall.

Bucky aimed, and gripped his gun before turning the knob. The door opened widened and led him to another, short hallway with two doors. "Seriously?" He went left and walked into a dark room with a metal table in the center and weapons decorating the walls. "Elizabeth?" He left out a faint whisper but received no reply. It's been over an hour since they've been in contact with Elizabeth and could be dead for all he knew. But Bucky wasn't about to give up on his doll. So, he'd thought he'd give it another try, "Elizabeth?"

"You've had enough?"

"T-Tony." Elizabeth basically spit out his name, trying to get herself up off the floor but failed miserably, "why are you doing this?" her faint voice was lower than a whisper. "I'm your fucking sister."

Tony squatted down to look at his crippled sibling, on the floor. "You're not my sister, Liz. Mom and Dad bought you." The way he said bought it didn't sit right with Elizabeth. Her whole life has been a lie. Elizabeth has been hiding behind a name. Stark. Her body shivered, she rolled up into a ball on the floor totally giving up. What's the point of getting out alive? Her murderous brother would come after her again. Right?

"STARK." The steel door busted open, hitting the wall. Bucky walked in with a gun pointing to Tony and a gun pointing to a doctor. Erskine. Didn't he die in 1941? "GET THE FUCK AWAY FROM HER."

Bucky wore a cold face- an expression Elizabeth has never seen on his face. James Barnes was unrecognizable until his eyes softened at the sight of Liz but they were losing their connection. She started to become unrecognizable. There were cuts and bruises all over her light skin. It looked like she hadn't eaten in weeks. A power demeaning was on her wrist, making her even weaker.

"Barnes."

Bucky stood still, gripping his gun pointed at Tony a bit tighter before pulling the trigger.

"NO!"

Bang.

Tony fell to the floor, first his knees then his hands to steady himself. Bucky had only shot him in the leg, he's not a monster. Not anymore.

"Tony." Liz started crawling over to him in tears. No matter what they still grew up together, went through all that pain together. "Tony." She whispered one more time when she arrived next to him. Elizabeth couldn't help but give him a soft smile, she really was a kind girl- a badass when needed. "I'm so sorry."

"Not as sorry as I am, Jellybean."

Bucky studied the two for a moment, less than a second. Something was wrong. Tony was right handed, this guy wasn't. Bucky had shot Erskine in the back, big deal, the guy has been dead for decades. "Elizabeth? Are you alright?"

She sat still, looking up at him with her soft eyes. Something's wrong. "Fine." Her voice was softer than whisper. Her eyes slowed closed, she started to fall backwards just as Bucky reached for her.

"Elizabeth. Liz." Bucky shook her. "I'm here, doll."

Her pale lips had no choice but to tug into a tight smile. "I know. I love you."

And that was the day Elizabeth Stark really died.

"What are you saying, Bruce. That she's in another coma or is she..." Natasha's words started to fade. Her best friend was probably really gone this time.

Bucky had been on her bedside the whole time. He didn't eat since he brought her back to the compound or even washed his hands. They were lucky if they even got a look from him.

"From what we know... Tony is still out there. And from the brain scans I've done on Lizzy..." Bruce made an effort to stay calm but really, he was freaking out inside. He didn't know what to say. Or how to say it. So, he lied. "I couldn't find anything that's wrong."
